I plan on taking the exam under Maine state board, from what I understand you don’t need any specific accounting credits besides auditing. I know you need 15 accounting hours including an auditing class. I want to be sure because I have 12 financial accounting credits (introduction and intermediate), 6 credits of cost and managerial accounting and 3 credits in auditing which totals 21 credits. I figured I should throw it out on this forum incase I’m missing something. Anyone that has an experience taking the exam under Maine or understand what the requirement says should help out before i apply. Thanks

    Hi,

I am sitting under Maine right now. This is from the NASBA Maine webpage:

Be of good character and reputation; and

Have earned at least a baccalaureate or higher degree conferred by a regionally accredited college or university acceptable to the Board and completed at least 120 semester hours of college level education; and

Have completed 15 semester hours in one or more of the topics listed below. At least 3 semester hours must be earned in auditing and attestation services.

financial accounting and reporting for business organizations

financial accounting and reporting for government and not-for-profit entities

    auditing and attestation services

    managerial or cost accounting

    taxation

    fraud examination

    internal controls and risk assessment

    financial statement analysis

    accounting research and analysis

    tax research and analysis

    accounting information systems

ethics relevant to the practice of public accounting

With that said, I think you meet the requirements. Do you also have a bachelors? You need to be within 120 days of completing your degree to sit for the exam.

dustindd23, sorry this is a bit off-topic, but I've had a question about work experience requirements in Maine that I've posted before (https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-forum/topic/maine-license-work-experience-1). Any chance you can share your experience? I'm particularly interested if you had to spend a certain number of hours doing audit work before getting licensed. Would appreciate any insight

    REG - passed

I am going with Maine as well. Has anyone had any trouble? I am only going to have the required 15 credits along with AUdit when I apply for my exam.
