MCQ only and skip TBS for FAR final review?

Should we only do MCQ for the FAR final review and skip TBS because of limited amounts of time?

Or instead do MCQ and TBS even if it might slow down MCQ progress?

I have WileyCPAexcel & Test Bank and Ninja Sniper (Nina MCQ/SIMS, Ninja Notes, etc.)

Anyone passed FAR with some advice?

Anyone studying for FAR have suggestions?

I haven't passed but from experience I would def practice TBS including DRS. These sims are no joke and can't be taken lightly. With the 50/50 grading and format you really need to know how to handle the major topics in TBS format.

    AUD - 75
    REG - 64, 77
    FAR - 73, 73, 73, 82
    Ethics: 74, 84, 98

From my experience, none of the simulations really prepare you for the simulations you will see on the exam. I know this sounds simple, but the best way to prepare for simulations is to understand the material as best as you can.

Yeah, I'd definitely not skip the TBS. Don't spend as much time there as MCQs, but you'll want to be familiar with the types of questions you will be asked on the exam. FWIW, I passed on the first go and I credit it to a strong showing on TBS over MCQs.

I have not taken FAR yet, but passed the other three. I agree that the SIMS in the review courses aren't great at preparing you for the test scenarios. However, since they are 50% of your grade, it's worth paying attention to those in review. I would definitely be comfortable with the research one. I plan on re-doing all of the SIMS in Becker and Ninja that have to do with journal entries and DRS. I will also do the AICPA practice exam (gives you a good idea of what the test might look like). For me, doing as many SIMS as I can alleviates the anxiety. Plus, SIMS still do prepare you for the concepts, in a different format. Sometimes you are able to answer an MCQ and not do a SIM for the same topic.

I used Wiley CPAExcel. I found the TBS questions to be pretty helpful in preparing for the exam.

I started out a few years ago with Wiley and I still have it, but it is so tedious. Well something is better than nothing.

I like to do 2 to 3 sims per day depending on complexity.

Since the exam will be completely different – the learning with practice sims is time management and understanding the types and variety of questions that can come up.

    Practice makes perfect.

I've not been overly impressed with Wiley, but my company paid for it and I'm not going to ask them for another one at this point. That being said, I have found the MCQs to be slightly more difficult than what I found on the actual exam, and the TBS questions varied enough to help me feel comfortable with what I ended up seeing on the actual exam.

If you were running out of time, then I would do some of both, but harness your focus. For MCQ, I would filter it to do Gov/NFP, and go through the SIMS, but do the ones that are more overarching into the big areas. Focus on things like inventory, accounts receivable, leases, consolidation. I passed with an 86, but still felt very overwhelmed by some of the government questions. Having a good grip on that will benefit you a lot. One thing I like about the Wiley bank is the flag feature so you can go back to the flagged ones during review.
