So I just got an email from NASB telling me about the new security measures that prometrics will start “enforcing” on October 15th.. all I can say is: “seriously people wearing camera eye glasses into the center is really a “thing”???”– and why can’t I seem to get one of these “pirated exams” that must be floating around from all of these eyewear, jewelry and hair accessory camera wielding geniuses …. ha ha ha (the one for BEC would be particularly great 🙂 )

We had to staple our notes to our exam (if note were allowed) so that he could inspect them to make sure that no one had the same notes.

@circadian my profs all did the same ha ha ha … I guess we are a bunch of cheaters!
@claudia- I just can't understand why- I mean its not like you are going to get the same exam as someone else- content wise you could just break the rules and say there were X # of questions on this topic or that… why go to the trouble of taking photos- and clearly the person(s) doing it can't be legit candidates because it seems like it would take too long to photograph each and every question… I just don't get it….

When I went back to school in 2014 to get my accounting credits, more than half the class had copies of the test banks that were used for the exams. It wasn't fair to anyone who didn't have a copy since most exams were curved. The professors were too lazy to switch around the answers or change the numbers.

The accounting professors were more on the ball it seemed. They wouldn't just like read a book or whatever during the exam. They would walk around the class or sit at their desk and just stare at everyone. The multiple choice questions were in a different order depending on what version you got.

REG:October 12, 2016 at 2:22 pm #1263138lex7632Participant@mckan514w you took the words out of my mouth. I read the email, and I'm like “Really…?” You brought up a good point, is it a legit candidate that might've committed this forbidden action? Does the benefit really outweigh the cost/consequence of being caught? I just don't get it either. To get to the point of being approved to sit for this infamously difficult exam, and to possibly throw away all that effort, time, and money for committing an act like that is beyond me. I agree, it sure would be a lot of effort to take pictures during the exam. I don't discount the possibility of something like this happening, but really…?
As if the study preparation and exam experience isn't already stressful. The testing security procedures are borderline airport security measures. I use glasses too, so I guess I now have to get used to my glasses being examined with due diligence and professional care on exam day. I'm not trying to be sarcastic but these new measures just take the cake.

I remember there was this girl who got a PERFECT score and she was asked to do a problem on the board. Then she started to pretend that she didn't speak english since she was a foreign student.
This is why you make the tests MC with some SIMs.

If you go to restroom, you get wanded and fingerprinted again, five prints.
You can bring glasses and earplugs but no cases for them. No gum, food, drink or cough drops. I know everyone has been a room with an exam cougher.
I don't understand the added security.October 12, 2016 at 4:35 pm #1263211hasyParticipant@Estimated.Pro
I completely understand you. That's how I'm checked at my prometric too and I thought that was way too intense. I've learned that I need to pass this next one so I never have to endure this entire set-up. Though, to be fair, it's not just CPA exam takers. There's also people taking their boards there and there are higher stakes there.

October 12, 2016 at 4:37 pm #1263214TncincyParticipantWell, the added security is for those who attempt to cheat or cheat for their friends. it's really sad what things are coming to, the test is already long enough, costs too much, the security measures that exist are already to the point of violating. But what can we do? if we want to be CPAs we'll have to endure all of the above. :-(. The blessing is PASSING for crying out loud.
