    NINJA Question –

I see on this site, where people claim that the NINJA books and MCQ represent a good “supplement to other study aids”. Are the books and MCQ enough as a stand-alone study method?

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

I'm biased, of course, but yes – the book and MCQ are more than enough to use for standalone study.

The book is comprehensive, but to the point. The MCQ has more questions than many other providers and has better technology driving it.

One factor complicating the reports that you're seeing is that the NINJA products were under development during the time that some of us were testing…so like, when I tested, NINJA was definitely just a supplement. In the past year (or so? I think?), the videos were fleshed out to be more thorough and the books were added.

So, I can't really answer your question since when I was studying, it was just some supplementary products. I think they're supposed to be able to be stand-alone now, but can't testify to that. However, I can testify to that they're pretty new as a stand-alone (if I'm remembering right that they are), so there's not many old-timers who have used them as a stand-alone product.

EDIT: Well guess Jeff beat me to it, and as the author, can definitely be the one to assure that they're intended to be stand-alone now. 😛

I would say if you're going to go strictly NINJA then get the 10 point combo, not just books and MCQ. I really didn't care for my CPAexcel section for REG and fully credit NINJA for the pass. I did some CPAexcel lectures and all the MCQ, but added NINJA audio and MCQ.

It isn't just the study materials, it is how you study. I initially was using CPAexcel and Wiley Test Bank. I failed 3 times in a row, although I don't necessarily blame the materials.

On the 4th try I stepped up the multiple choice questions in a big way, using Wiley Test Bank. I also started to write more notes and get a better system in for tracking where I need to focus. I then ran across the Ninja method that Jeff advocates (which says to do a ton of MCQ's and take a lot of notes). That was my first test that I passed.

I swapped out Cpaexcel and Wiley Test Bank for the Ninja 10 point combo on my fifth test, which I also passed. I just took AUD last week and only used the Ninja 10 point combo. I felt very prepared during the test and feel confident that I passed.

For my next, and hopefully final, test I am only using the 10 point combo.

Thanks everyone. I knew that it isn't just about the study materials, but I was just curious as to thoughts concerning relying on NINJA alone for a pass.
