It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Thank you. For section 20 on Form 1, do I need to list out every single CPA exam and score I have taken on section 20 or just the ones I passed. If so where would I even get that info? I have taken test dating back to 2005.

I would assume only the passing scores and date.

Actually, looking at the Form 1, it appears you just check YES for #19, and NASBA will send your scores for you.
I would fill in the dates and passing scores for your most recent passes, but I don't think its necessary.
Old scores are irrelevant as they are not in the 18 month window.

I posted on 9/20/17 a question regarding licensing under the 15 year rule. After I posted – I called NYS and told them I had passed. The lady on the phone was able to look up my grade (I just received my passing grade the day before). She downloaded my grades and set it to licensing. I had a license number the next day!!. This was because my application was already processed by NYS as under the 15 year rule it needed pre approve to sit for the exam. Once you pass – it does not need to go to the board again.

Thank you for the update! That is encouraging that I will not have to wait again after passing.

@cleethree – the process is different if you apply under the 15 year rule. Your entire application (including all the application forms). I had to wait a while for NYS to process everything before I could take the exam.

Hello, everyone. I am trying to do my initial licensing, but I am really confused about the Form 2. When I was sitting for the CPA exams, I was under the 120 credits rule (after 2009). But now I got my Master Degree in Accounting from one of AACSB school, which now I qualify for 150 rule. I already requested my graduate school to sent my master transcript to NASBA, and I confirmed with NASBA. NASBA already helped me update my 150 hr credits. So for my case, do I still need to ask each school that I attended to help me fill out the Form 2 and forward to NY Board? During the initial licensing, does the NY Board still need to approve our education again? kid of loss for the purpose of Form 2..Thanks

@yangjinfan201 If NASBA has confirmed you've met the 150 hr rule, just ensure they sent that to NYS Board. You should not need form 2. My story – I sat for & passed all the exams with over 120 credits but less than 150, I then took extra classes to get the 150. I had those transcripts sent to NASBA, they approved my 150 and then they sent that information to NYS. One of the boxes on Form 1 indicates that if NASBA has approved your 150 hours, just confirm they have sent on your behalf. Form 2 is only for those whose transcripts did not go through NASBA.

@CPAshoes08. I sent my form 1 so I got my foot in. I am not unhappy at my job, also I knew they like me so I was in peace. It was frustrating, yes but it wasn't hindering my day-to-day work.

Update : I'm a CPA! My license number got issued today per the online verifications website. Exactly 16 weeks + 1 day since my application was sent to the board. I know someone whose application was sent to the board 3 weeks before mine, and their license number was issued just 2 days ago – just I don't know the rhyme or reason around how the board reviews and approves applications

@MC wow congratulations!! I just called NYS and they told me they have everything, but some items still needed processing. Where do you go for the online verification website?

just type nys cpa verification into google and it will bring you to the NYS professional license verification/lookup page.
    https://www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htm

You can look up everyone you work with to see when they were licensed.

Spoke with someone in Albany last week. Due to the test scores taking so long they are actually trying to catch up and process applications quicker. He said that in three weeks they should be though all of the September stamped applications.

@lexus423, ARE YOU SERIOUS!?!?!?!?!? If this is true, then the total processing time should be way quicker. NYS cashed my check on 9/25/17, so I consider that the date they accepted my application.

I thought I wouldn't be licensed until 2018, but with this news it seems that 2017 is a possibility!!

I sure hope so. I just received an email from someone else in NYS stating that the process is still 16-18 weeks and that they are still reviewing July applications. I just wish I could get a straight answer. This is very frustrating.
