It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

So they said my application was sent to board on 10/20 and that it will take 16 weeks as kdawg22 indicated. I my application was received on 9/25, so I guess it takes a month for it to be sent to the board. I wish that counted towards the 16 weeks, but it seems like it is not.

NYS is killing me right now as my dream to be license in 2017 is slim to none.

Oh I got confused for a second, I thought when someone mentioned that the board is up to 9/15 applications, I thought it was when NYS cashed the check. If that is the case, yeah I won't be licensed in 2017 since mine was sent to the board on 11/13, but they processed on check 10/3. I will be licensed in Feb 2018 at this rate.

It also depends if this is the first time you are sending an application. I sent mine years ago and they approved education. Resubmitted now since I passed the exam. I would assume it would take longer if its the first time applying.

@lexus423 They made no mention of what date applications they are on. I am sure if you call, they will tell you.

It seems like e-mail responses are very generic and may not be completely accurate, but I do not know for sure.

Does anyone know if the credits from Western Governors University (WGU) are accepted and counted towards 150 credit requirement? I know I can just ask them but I wanted to know if anyone here already has experience

They are on 9/19… It seem's like I won't be a CPA until 2018… AGH!

I call today and also got the same response. Going through 6 days worth of applications in 3 days is not bad (On 9/19 application as of 12/18 per CPAshoes08 and now on 9/25 applications as of today).

I highly doubt I will get licensed this year (my application was received by the board on 10/20), but hopefully I can get it within the first couple weeks of January. This is really messing up my plans as my firm is transitioning. I don't understand why NYS takes this long while other states give out licenses within a week or two. I know NYS must get a lot of applications, but a 16 week processing time seems ridiculous

just wanted to give an update: I submitted all forms on 8/24 and the application was forwarded to the CPA Board for review on 9/18/17. I was told it would take 16 weeks which is January 2018, but i just checked on NYS website and Date of Licensure is 12/22/17.

I haven't received the actual certificate in the mail yet.

CONGRATS @kdawg22!!!! Seems like they processed you into the system quickly after approval. NYS told us they are on 9/25/17 applications as of last week. Hopefully they reach October applications this week.

I know I am not going to get licensed in 2017 (Board received my application on 10/20), but hope that I will be within the first two weeks on January.

Jeez…four months? I live in UT and when I applied for my license back in November, I was approved in the same day. I know Nevada only approved licenses 8-10 times per year, but even then the longest wait applicants may have is six weeks.

I would riot if I had to wait 4 months for an exam score then 4 months for my application for the license to be approved. You guys are all better, more patient people than I am.

"FACT": The odds of consecutively passing all four sections of the CPA exam on the first try: 7%.
