Sorry for the confusion, the board is reviewing those applications.September 19, 2018 at 11:51 am #1984046
Thanks! As for your question about the license numbers- you pretty much just have to play around with the lookup tool. You go on this website: http://www.op.nysed.gov/opsearches.htm and then you can search by CPA license number. Right now, the last license they issued is 128228. You can play around by going up and down numbers and see how many were issued each day.September 19, 2018 at 1:47 pm #1984307
Thanks for the insight. 28 licenses were actually issued today: 128211-128238. Crossing my fingers that my license will be issued tomorrow or Friday.September 19, 2018 at 3:53 pm #1984574
Good luck! Any idea when your application was forwarded to the board?September 19, 2018 at 4:47 pm #1984634
6/28 – Application submitted to the board
9/10 – Application approved by the board and sent to processing
I would of had my license much sooner, but NASBA and one particular individual decided to take their sweet time in send in my transcripts to NYS.September 20, 2018 at 7:35 am #1985429
Congrats Mister J, you are almost there!
I've been patiently waiting and can see the light at the end of tunnel… my application was submitted to the board on 7/13, so hopefully they approve it sometime next week (fingers-crossed).
Just want to say thanks to everyone on this forum, without you all sharing your journey this process would've been much more aggravating.September 21, 2018 at 4:17 pm #1990847
Thanks recked.. your words and views have always helped me ..
I also want to know whether I will reecive CPA certificate for clearing for 4 parts. If I don't wish to take licenses then I don't have any document with me other than score.
Any thoughts on this pls !!September 25, 2018 at 10:35 am #1996076
Anyone call today?September 25, 2018 at 11:50 am #1996202
Is this normal? They issued no license numbers on Thursday, 1 license number Friday, 0 Monday, and none so far today.September 25, 2018 at 12:13 pm #1996226
@Apii – You will receive a congratulatory letter from NASBA stating that you passed all 4 sections of the CPA exam.
I think it has the dates and scores for each passed part, as well as instructions on how to apply for your license.
This is NOT a CPA certificate, but its a letter for proof if you need it.September 26, 2018 at 11:54 am #1997621
I just passed all 4 parts in Q3, however, I don't receive any instruction letter regarding how to apply the license. Anyone know what should I do? I seat for NH and want to license in NY.September 26, 2018 at 12:04 pm #1997654
Form 1 and Form 4B should do the trick.
Read up on this website.
Looks like you might also need Form 2 to send transcripts to NYS, as well as Form 3 to transfer your passing scores from NH to NY.
Have fun with that paperwork.September 27, 2018 at 12:57 pm #1999304
Just called 518-474-3817, ext 160 and the board is currently reviewing 8/2 applications.September 28, 2018 at 6:34 am #2000069
Thanks Jedgar! Guess I am getting closer, mine was sent to the board on 9/10. Fingers Crossed I get it in later October/November. Making the process about 4-5 months.September 28, 2018 at 1:32 pm #2000618
Hello all. Long time forum lurker, who recently passed the exam. Started the long process of getting licensed in NYS on 09/19. I am very impatient and in a rush to to add CPA to my linkedin profile…has anyone ever tried getting licensed in another state as well as NY? Can you start two licensing processes at the same time? I was thinking maybe CT.
Out of curiosity of course, very unlikely to pursue this route, unless my firm covers the costs…Happy Friday All!September 28, 2018 at 2:01 pm #2000633
You're not licensed in one state yet, so you would need to (presumably) transfer scores from NY to CT, and then send CT transcripts and experience verification.
And then you would be licensed in CT and need to pay a second license fee, and fall under a second set of CPE and board guidelines.
I'd probably not recommend this as the cost outweighs the benefit if your primary motivator is simply impatience.
Not sure what the license and renewal fee for CT is, but multiply that by a lifetime and you might find this not cost effective, unless you plan to move or practice in CT.September 28, 2018 at 3:14 pm #2000723
NYS cashed my check a week after sending them my information and have half my transcripts. I do not like the waiting game. I just hope my experience was sent in too. :-XSeptember 28, 2018 at 6:58 pm #2000915
@steven.Meditz: I know the feeling. NY cashed my application fee the same exact day they received the check. Not even kidding. Delivered 8:04am on a Friday, cashed that same Friday.September 29, 2018 at 7:57 am #2001287
The board received my application on 8/3 – hoping for the best.
Also, regarding the status of your application once it's in the Board's hands, what are the best ways to find out its progress/anything missing? From what I gather and my own experience, generally you're not notified of issues unless you proactively ask them first.September 29, 2018 at 9:00 am #2001350
@sbny2k17 based on my phone call with the state the rep said to call periodically as they will not email/communicate any issues. I also emailed them too, the response said to email once every 2 weeks or so.October 3, 2018 at 8:33 am #2007587
@sbny2k17 What email address do you use? My documents were sent on September 27th so I want to ask if everything they need was received. ThanksOctober 3, 2018 at 9:46 am #2007806
@Abeljunkmail – Thank you I’ll do the same @Vasylboychuk – I used Opunit3@nysed.gov. There’s a number in this thread also which I used and the person confirmed they received my documents. Do you mean you mailed your documents or they were sent to the Board on the 27th?October 3, 2018 at 10:13 am #2007905
I emailed after I posted my last response here and received a response within a few minutes – “Your license will be issued in about 3 weeks” (my application was submitted to the board on 8/3). I'm hoping everything went through but I assume the worst with this processOctober 3, 2018 at 11:03 am #2007974
Passed exams in May 2016 but too busy at work and procrastinated applying for the license until July 2017.
2/2/2018 (6 month wait) My application went to the board for review. They say it takes 8 to 12 weeks for review.
4/27/18 (3 month wait) Followed up on the 12 week mark. They said to give them a few more weeks.
5/21/18 (3 week wait) Board emailed me on 5/21/18 but had the wrong e-mail on file so I never received the email requesting additional documentation.
8/15/18 Got busy at work. Followed up 8/15/18. Board forwarded me the e-mail I never received.
8/16/18 Went to the registrars office to mail missing docs.
*I should have followed up again 3 weeks after 4/27. If my email was correct in their database, I would have gone to the registrar 5/22, followed up with the board on 6/11 for receipt of missing docs, and received the good news by 7/3.
9/13/18 (4 weeks later) Followed up with Office of the Professions to confirm they received the docs from school. They said the application will now go into re-review and be expedited (I don't have to wait the full time again).
10/3/18 (3 week wait) Followed up. My license has been approved. I will receive it in the mail in a few weeks.
10/22/18 (3 week from now) Will follow up in 3 weeks if I don't receive anything in the mail.
*Lessons learned: Keep following up!October 5, 2018 at 10:19 am #2010794
