It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Does anyone know if your experience requirements are looked at before your application is sent to the board? Just wondering if I might be a little short on hours…

I believe the complete application is reviewed before being sent to the board.
Education, test scores, experience requirements, and most likely a background check as well.

I passed my final 2 exams in Q1 and contacted the board/cpa area immediately on the day I got my final passing score.
I had already gone through the review process in order to get to sit for the exams, so I was licensed 6 days after my final score release on March 9th.
I would advise that you do NOT wait for the letter. Send in your stuff asap.
It will take 16+ weeks before they get around to your file anyway.

I assume the letter is just going to tell you to fill out the Form 1 and Form 4b anyway, which are both available on the website.

@Recked Thanks…taking that into consideration, my application was received by the board on February 28th, 2018. Is it safe to bet that the CPA Board will approve if it has already been technically reviewed? In other words, if my experience hours were not adequate then it would not have been sent to the board, right?

    Thank you!

Sally, I think, but am not positively sure, that all review work needs to be done and passed, before the file goes to the board.
I would assume that you are in the clear, but obviously I cannot guarantee it.
You can call and ask if there are any notes on the file. They were very helpful in telling me where my file was in the review and process and whether it had any negative notes attached to it.

My file was marked complete (all exams passed, NASBA file received, work experience form 4B received) last Friday, March 30th. As of 10AM this morning, my file was under board review. I was given an estimated processing time of 10 weeks – this means I can expect licensure around June 15. Just wanted to give everyone a sense of what I've heard in order to manage expectations.

Yes – that has been the most efficient way in my experience.

On March 28th, I received this response from the opunit3@nysed.gov:

“Hello. Everything was received and your application was forwarded to the CPA Board for review on 1/16/18. They’re currently taking 8-12 weeks.”

Needless to say it is taking longer than 12 weeks. Also, they cashed my check in early January so just because they cash the check doesn't mean that they sent it to the Board.
