It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

Hello, everyone. I am trying to do my initial licensing, but I am really confused about the Form 2. When I was sitting for the CPA exams, I was under the 120 credits rule (after 2009). But now I got my Master Degree in Accounting from one of AACSB school, which now I qualify for 150 rule. I already requested my graduate school to sent my master transcript to NASBA, and I confirmed with NASBA. NASBA already helped me update my 150 hr credits. So for my case, do I still need to ask each school that I attended to help me fill out the Form 2 and forward to NY Board? During the initial licensing, does the NY Board still need to approve our education again? kind of loss for the purpose of Form 2..Thanks

From what I understand after speaking with someone at the NYS office of the professions, you can either have your schools fill out the form 2 and send them in with a transcript or if you had your transcripts sent to NASBA, then the form 2 isn't necessary and NASBA will send them the transcript after evaluation.

I just found this out myself and had I known earlier, I probably would have (and still may) requested my schools to send in the form 2, as NASBA appears to be really backlogged in their transcript evaluations. I've been waiting on NASBA to evaluate my transcripts for 2 months now…

Spoke to someone at office of the professions, apparently you can have transcripts sent directly to them so long as it comes from the school and has identifying information without a form 2.

I called on Monday, May 14th. I was told my completed application was sent to the board for review on February 15, there is about a 12 week wait (which would be May 10th), and it should be approved soon.

To give everyone an approximation of timing:

1/25/18 – My application and Form 4B were received by the Board
5/2/18 – I was contacted by someone from the Education Dept who didn't read my application and thought I was doing the 150 hours (I checked off 120 hours grandfathered). They then forwarded my application to the CompEd dept
5/11/18 – I received confirmation that my education was approved
5/16/18 – License number on website

A long, long slog through but finally on the other side! 111 days, or approx. 16 weeks. WHEW!

Mine was received by the board on Feb 4th – if predictions are correct I should see my name up on the website next week!!! Finished in December so 5 1/2 months is a very LONG TIME!

Anybody call recently? Finally manged to get my application forwarded to the board last week. I'm guessing I won't hear anything until September the earliest.

I called yesterday, May 22nd. They were processing February 5th.
I received my final score February 6th and my application was sent to the board February 20th. I anticipate I will get my license either at the end of next week or the first week of June, which is consistent with 14-15 weeks.
