Hi there, old timer somewhat frequent poster needs assistance.

Short story, my company was merged and everybody was laid off. I was asked to stay an additional 5 weeks to help the transition.

Current status: the parent company has just called and asked me to stay for good because of the successful transition. They want me to basically oversee 5 entities in three countries, but not strictly finance and accounting–also admin, HR, and operations. Everything BUT sales.

They’ve asked me to come up with a title and expressly said not Controller because the scope will be much more broad than that and nothing that implies an officer (President, VP, or Director in the title will not be accepted)

Anyone have someone similar they report to or deal with? Can you share their title? Thanks in advance!

    Missy, congratulations!

My advice is twofold. One, peruse want ads and career boards for similar positions. Two, it sounds like you are a coordinator. So I would say something like Affiliate Coordinator.

    AUD - 90
    BEC - 79
    FAR - 77
    REG - 77

Congrats! I hope that even though the company is larger and different that you will still love working there as much as you have.

I suggest the title of ‘senior manager of accounting and administration’. However I feel your role would more identify with directorship. I have seen associate director, would that be a possibility?

Almost always from my phone... please excuse my typos!

Thanks, so much for the input. I've been doing my research because I want something that will translate well on future job searches and will be recognised by futute employers and keep coming back to Business Operations Manager which seems to be a catch all title for all the things I'm going to be doing (from recruiting and training to planning and managing customer relationships) and seems to be consistent salary wise with what I'd expect in future positions.

I agree it's a director position but it's a British company and from what I'm told you only get Director in your title if you're on the Board because the director of finance is a board member, as is the director of sales.
