Obviously not during the videos but while doing MCQ or rewriting notes. Sometimes I find that I can listen to soundtracks with no words, but other times I have to turn it off all together.

I only listen to music without lyrics. Anything with lyrics completely takes away my attention.

With that said, a lot of hip-hop beats, modal soul, classic, video game music, and chill dubstep.

    FAR: 50, 76!
REG: 74... (ouch baby, very ouch), 76!
    AUD: 65, 91!?
    BEC: 80! Aaaand doneskies!

    May 2012 to August 2013. Can't believe it's over.

Beta concentrate sound waves for reading (with noise canceling headphones I am in the zone), memory songs for practice tests. Then breaks Rick Ross, Dead Prez, Papa Roach (angry music). DMX and DJ Khaled helped me pass REG and BEC. And allot of Blade that last scene I was Blade then REG was guess who….

To process information classical/opera all the way.

After test when I leave Prometric. Then I let Bellini:Norma Act 1 take away the pain of the exam. When I get home a tub of ice cream makes me feel extra better. All pain gone move on to the next task….

    I like rain simulations!

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

You guys listen to some good music! Well, most of you. 😛

If I can't have complete silence, I'll listen to Dragonforce's album Inhuman Rampage at high volume.

    Interesting article on this topic:

    https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/memory-medic/201312/does-music-help-memory

Basically they say it is best to listen to music that is not your favorite, but also music that you do not hate……but on the other hand music you like creates positive emotions which should increase your learning ability.

If you are musically trained, then this neutrality is more so important.

I personally like Danny Elfman and Hans Zimmer for studying.

I listened to video game soundtracks. The thing about some of the video game themes is that they are there to set a tone and try to put you in a specific mood.

Something chill – coffeehouse-type music – that I don't know the words to. If there's a beat, and especially if I know the words, I'm in constant “This is my jam!” mode, and you can imagine how much studying gets done while I'm dancing around the house like a nut…. 😉

Right now im listening to Johnathan Butler's “Dancing on the Shore”. I love listeing to smooth jazz when I study, can't study in dead silence. I also bought Meditation Relax Club: Brain Power & Concentration from itunes. It really helps me keep my focus

I listen to a lot of ‘coffee-shop' music and contemporary Christian music. Jack Johnson, Mat Kearney, Need to Breathe, and a whole lot of random coffee-shop-isk artists that I couldn't name since I have pandora pick it all out for me 🙂

Overall it works well for me because even though the music has lyrics, they are usually pretty low-key and meaningless (I mean, have you heard some of Jack Johnson's music? I love it but sometimes its just babel!)

And I frequent quite a few coffee-shops so its normal to me.

Like others here I enjoy soundtrack music – specifically Hans Zimmer, John Williams, Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean), Steve Jablonsky (Transformers). Also enjoy varying forms of instrumental music, but love discovering new music.

@ Jeff, Manifesto is my jam. Too bad I can't listen to it and study at the same time.

Confidence is a prerequisite for success
