Obviously not during the videos but while doing MCQ or rewriting notes. Sometimes I find that I can listen to soundtracks with no words, but other times I have to turn it off all together.

    Techno.

I didn't really listen to techno till I started studying for the CPA exam.

Anything that sounds familiar to me (especially with lyrics) distracts me, and anything that I can predict the next melody is not good either(like famous classical pieces).

When I say techno, it's not the fast beat techno you hear at the night club.

Anywhere from 80-120 bpm will do me good. especially while doing mcqs.

I need silence to study effectively but I could listen to a marching band outside my door and still work effectively. I did however use the “I need morgue-like quiet” argument to purchase myself Beats solos last summer. 😉

I can't concentrate with music with lyrics but instrumentals can get me thru thousands of multiple choice questions. It's mostly hip-hop and jazz for me. Here are some of my favorites

Oddisee – The Beauty In All (Instrumental Album)

Oddisee – Rock Creek Park (Mostly Instrumental Album)

Kool & The Gang – Summertime Madness

    Mos Def – May-December

Lou Donaldson – My Little Suede Shoes

Chuck Inglish – WRKING & WRKOUT beat tapes

Ratatat – ALL THEIR ALBUMS ARE AWESOME

BADBADNOTGOOD – all their albums are pretty awesome. Fusion w/ Hip-Hop & Jazz

Natasha Ramos – Midnight Hour (Instrumental Only)

Joey Bada$$ – Waves (Instrumental Only)

MF DOOM – Doomsday (Instrumental Only)

Okay, I'm done lol I have a lot more but if you're into any type of hip-hop or jazz that's a good list for you above.

FAR - (Let's not talk about that score)
    AUD - 77!
    REG - 70, 70
    BEC - 77!

Video game soundtracks. Seriously. I got it from a tip on reddit and it's been great! The music is designed to kind of be background noise while you focus on something else, so if I need something on while I study, I put on the video game station on Pandora and get at it.

    FAR - 79 (11/27/13)
    AUD - 76 (2/1/14)
    REG - 77 (5/30/14)
    BEC - 88 (7/18/14)

    MN Ethics - 100% (3/9/14)

    AND DONE! 8/1/14

    @san4596 Heck yeah!

I listen to a Skrillex station on Pandora. It's aggressive and gets me going. I can't study in silece because I have tinitus in my ears (they ring constantly, from my former life of being an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force) and it's much louder in complete silence. Testing: it doesn't bother me too much because of the other people taking tests and typing on their keyboards, but I do have to take breaks to hear some noise.

I may try those video game soundtracks @fiona87!

I listen to smooth jazz radio on Pandora to keep my mind relaxed and it works.
