Other sources for IT terminology

After failing BEC twice with heavy IT exams that had terminology I never came across in any review material, I need to find another source to try and nail this area down. I feel like they can add a whole other exam with all the IT terms they can throw at us. Has anyone used any outside resources that helped with this topic?

I didn't use any outside resources, but that's because I had a pretty good base knowledge coming into it. So, I'll share where my base knowledge came from, and maybe that will help? One of the courses I took to complete my accounting requirement was Accounting Information Systems from LSU. This is the textbook that is now listed for their course: http://www.amazon.com/Accounting-Information-Systems-George-Bodnar/dp/0132871939 I can't find where I ordered the book I had, so it wasn't that same book/edition, and I know the one I got was much cheaper. But, I'd suggest looking for that book – or the book for some other college's AIS course – that's a couple/few editions out of date, so that I could get it cheap, and looking through it.

I also took some IT courses in college, cause I considered a computer science major, but those taught things like programming, so I don't think that they did much to help with the IT portion of BEC. I think the IT on BEC was more like my AIS class, so I'd suggest an AIS class textbook as a good thing to do a read-through and get a grasp of what the CPA exams are talking about.

Given that the info for the CPA exams is a couple years out of date, too, there's no reason to buy the most recent version of the book and spend $200 – get a few editions back, save some money, and you'll have an edition that better matches the CPA exams, too. Yeah, it's overkill somewhat, but if this is killing you, wouldn't it be better to overkill?

Thanks for the info Lilla. I took an online class my last semester for AIS, but it was a joke and I didn't get anything out of it. I only have 3 weeks to prepare for the retake since I have an expiring REG NTS in November, so going through a book on the subject would take too much time.

@ mckan514w- I found a few glossaries that might be useful.

@Jeff- I wish I went through more of the videos when you had them up, but it was a few days before my exam and I was cranking out mcq's most of the time. How old are they? Just watched the demo and the guy was talking about floppy disks lol.

@Re2pect- thanks for those links- I investigated Lila's (thanks @Lila!) thoughts of a text book and actually remembered that some have free online student resources without having to buy the book…. I found the below for an AIS book with free power points for the chapters… hoping these might help as well… (the chapters are up top and the powerpoint links are on the side to download)

@jeff I'm like Re2pect I wish I had had more time to look at the videos when they were available but was too busy trying to cram AUD in before my NTS expired. I will have to re-visit but right now I hate paying for another video if I don't have to.

Someone posted the other day that the IT lectures in particular helped them on their recent exam.

Are you saying people don't use floppy disks?!?!

Not true! The A71 server uses floppy disks!

    …wait a minute…that could explain…

Jeff- I haven't used a floppy disk since I was gaming on the Commodore 64! lol

@mckan514w- You reminded me about the power points from the AIS class I took last year. They're probably similar to the ones you posted, but might be worth checking out. I think just trying to get familiar with most of the random terms is the best way to go for this topic.

@livealittle- I just noticed the glossary the other day. I have a 2014 Becker book on pdf, but never really used it since I have Roger's course. I'll probably print it out and go over it before the exam.
