Partial credit on SIMS

    Does anyone know the specifics on partial credit for SIMS? For example, what if you’re +/-5 on a number answer, do they still you credit if you’re within a range due to rounding?

    Also, as Becker is grading some of my SIMS, I’ll miss one thing out of the entire row, and the whole row is marked wrong…is that how it’s graded? Maybe it’s just a Becker thing… It doesn’t necessarily make a difference as I’m trying to get everything correct, just trying to gain a better understanding of my score if possible.

    I'm not sure on rounding, but I believe the scoring is done per field.
    So theoretically you don't need to get the whole SIM 100% correct to receive partial credit.
    The question instruction will give guidance on rounding, etc. It is extremely important to read the SIM instructions (and also the individual questions) VERY carefully.
    Take advantage of the AICPA sample exams to get a feel for the actual wording of the instructions.

    @recked, amen.
    It is so important to read instructions. On my FAR, I can't recall the SIMs that wanted me to fill in 0's, or leave them spaces with no changes as blank. Even though I knew how to compute the answer, the empty fields (say if I put in 0's instead of leaving blank?) would/might have cost me points? That test is done with and I got a 75-phew!!!! But, I would not forgive myself for not reading the instructions carefully enough. Don't ASSume , read!

    Thanks guys…I'm pretty aware of the reading instructions part on partial credit especially with the ridiculous rules around the zeros. What I want to know is that if I'm filling in a research question, and I get the first 3 boxes right, but mess up on the last box, do I get points for being “close”? Basically, how partial of a credit I can get. I'm not really expecting anyone to know the answer exactly as I can't seem to find anything on the AICPA site, but maybe other review courses have gone over this and I just haven't seen it?

    Unless I am losing my mind, somewhere in Becker material they mentioned that you get partial credit for getting the first part correctly for research questions. I felt better about research questions after hearing this because I can usually find the general section, but the specific paragraph is usually hard for me to find.
