Past work experience

I recently restart preparing cpa exam after stayed at home for several years to raise my kids. Before that, I had worked several years in tax department of a listed company. I am wondering once I past the exam, can I use my past work experience for CPA licensing? Is there any restriction about the time of work experience taking place? Also, since it’s been several years, all of my direct supervisors had left the company I employed with. In that case, is any of them still eligible to verify my work experience? Something I skipped to mention is that I worked as a contractor for a listed company about 7 months a year in the past two years during their tax season. The agency I had contract with for sure doesn’t have CPA supervisor. I recall I saw somewhere on the forum that I cannot have the manager of the client to verify my work experience. Is that the case? Thanks.

According to a response from a state board that i've seen posted here, the work had to be within the last 5 years. So i'd check with your board.

@calvinus: Are you referring to the 1st response to my post?

Experience Requirement for License Application to CA Board

As per my understanding, if the BOTH passing the exam & experience are 5 years old or older, then continuing education is necessary. Since cpaqueen is yet to pass & assuming she is with CA board, accepting the past experience will not be an issue.

@cpaqueen: In any case,it is best to check with your board.
