Everyone is different.
I tried to make sure I knew the basic concepts very VERY well.
I used NINJA MCQ, NINJA Notes for each section. NINJA text for BEC and REG. Plus/Bisk Videos for FAR.
First, I went through whatever video, text or lecture series to write out my own notes.
Next, I started MCQ. I went through blocks of 20 random questions, for each of the 5 or 6 main topic groups. When I achieved 80% correct twice, I moved on to the next topic group.
I would only use Jeff's notes if I didn't understand why I got something wrong. I also searched the internet a lot too.
Very important, I assimilated explanations to questions I got wrong into my notes. I also looked for a better way to see the material; eventhough I got it right, I would add the explanation to my notes if it helped see it better.
Then, I went through the 20 or so SIMs that I Jeff identified as good practice (an example of the 5 or 6 topic groups).
Likewise, I incorporated what I saw into my notes.
Then, I would go through a block of 20 MCQ for the two topics that I struggled with the most.
Within a week of my exam, I went through Jeff's AICPA recently released MCQ.
…
So, long story short, yes, I would use SIMs. They help you see the subject matter in a different way. They helped me identify weaknesses.
I hope this helps
