Can defaulting on a private education loan be grounds for being denied the right to sit for the exam or get licensed? The default hasn’t hit my credit score but it shows up in those online credit bureau sites.

Your personal finance situation will not impact your ability to sit or get licensed.

^That actually is not 100% true. I know in IL default on a student loan actually can prevent licensure. That may not apply to private student loans, though. OP, your best bet is to confirm with your state board.

Wow. So they penalize someone in debt by restricting their future earnings?

Make arrangement with your student loan servicer to get out of default. They will work with you, but you have to have the intention to pay off the debt. Get out of default for more than your license. How about your credit.
