I just found out that on the Prometric website that they are closing until Apr 16…
    https://www.prometric.com/corona-virus-update

I feel kinda relieved but I am wondering if they would adjust the expiration date for the subjects that I passed previously. I am soo worried that I might take those subjects again!!

    Here's a link to NASBA's website regarding COVID-19: https://nasba.org/blog/2020/03/17/covid-19-update/

“NASBA has recommended that the Boards of Accountancy extend all NTS with expirations between April 1 – June 30, 2020, until September 30, 2020. At this time, no action is required by candidates and there is no need to contact NASBA or your Board of Accountancy. Please monitor our social media channels and website for updates on when the NTS extensions are completed.”

Is anyone else under a shelter in place order? @andrea maybe? Seven counties in CA are under self-quarantined. Prometric in San Jose is closed till April 7 as of yesterday when I called. Has anyone tried emailing the Board of CA to see what kind of extensions they are giving people? Exam credit extensions?

@Kay-I'm in Contra Costa County, also under shelter in place orders until at least 4/7. I haven't yet contacted the CA board but I'm thinking we should try although they may also be closed for now. I'm seeing people say they'll extend us through September but I don't see anything officially announced on the CA or NASBA websites.
I think they should give anyone who got over a 70 in the last quarter full credit and let us move on. Dreaming…

@sunshine thanks for replying! So glad I found someone to share this anxiety with. I emailed them right when the SIP happened, knowing my family duties will be prioritized over studying. I got an automated response saying they're “making every effort to respond in a timely manner.”
Yes I know right! My boyfriend joked and called us the “corona CPAs,” aka CPAs who emerged through this time period due to the kindness of the boards extending credits. =P

SO I emailed them because initially they hadn't made any announcements (very late to the game). They won't budge about their extension of your NTS which I think is crappy. I have three exams on mine expiring July 30th. My exam in March was cancelled (obviously) so I asked for an extension since it screws up my timing and its only being given to those through June 30th. Ugh. I wonder if they will stick to that?

That can't be right. They should be extending those whose NTS' are expiring. I was scheduled to take FAR on 4/11 and my NTS expires on 4/13. I believe they will allow us to extend the NTS…I hope so.

ETA: I just called NASBA and they said the NTS' will be extended to 9/30. Phew!!

I called Prometric as I had an exam scheduled for 4/1 and my NTS expires 4/13. I was then told to call NASBA about extending the NTS, and this morning the representative told me they would be extending an applicable NTS to as far as September 30th. This is a far cry from the June 30th mentioned above, so I may have been told wrong dates. I'll give them another call tomorrow, for another shot at accurate info.

EDIT: @FSUGirl2005 also got the same 9/30 extension date. Seems legit

From NASBA's site about ANY NTS WITH AN EXPIRATION BETWEEN APRIL 1 – JUNE 30th:

“NASBA has recommended that the Boards of Accountancy extend all NTS with expirations between April 1 – June 30, 2020, until September 30, 2020. At this time, no action is required by candidates and there is no need to contact NASBA or your Board of Accountancy…NASBA will identify all candidates who have an open NTS and credit expiring through June 30, 2020, and provide this information to Boards with a recommendation to grant an extension of credit if the candidate is impacted by circumstances beyond their control. Due to shutdowns of many board offices, the decisions to extend conditional credit will not be finalized until Boards resume normal operations. There is no need to contact Boards at this time.”

I'm grateful for an extension. It does take the pressure off of what to do while there is so much chaos. In the mean time, I'll keep studying.

It seems worrying to me that there isn't a blanket extension on the 18 month window. It doesn't matter if your window is slated to expire between now and April 16th, if you have a test scheduled for when they're closed (or even if not yet scheduled) the window should be extended. They have so many arbitrary stupid rules made just to make this more difficult that they should bend for something like this. Lots of us had plans. Mine was always to take one new test a quarter (and retakes during or in the final two quarters if I failed). So it's all planned out, even though my first test doesn't expire until January of next year, that's not comforting if this somehow goes into the summer.

I am scared now if the test center won't reopen until end of May or June… I was supposed to take my FAR on Apr 6th and now I have to keep reviewing materials for 2 more months.

Really wish they would make all Credits from Jan 1 extended to June. I know I studied sick as a dog in February and the virus has been here since then. Took me 3 weeks to get over whatever it was the doctor treated me like a pneumonia patient. I test negative for strep and flu. Missed REG by 1 point. Definitely feeling like this is a little unfair for those of us that struggle through QTR 1 possibly sick.
