Hi, I am manager at big4 (about 7 years) and was wondering what is fare base to consider switching to public. My current base is around 110k(which I believe underpay) and I got offers around 100k from private companies. I live in NYC.

They offered u less than your making now? I think pay will depend on your experience. Are you switching to same industry ie doing hedge funds in publi to working at a fund or are you switching to a new sector? If your experience lines up I wouldn’t leave for less money and I would think the raise would need to be at least 10%. I think 110 for manager in NyC is about right, I know tax managers in nyc at big 4 that make about the same and they are manager 2. Unfortunately, those big bucks we were promised in college just isn’t true until you make partner. Good luck! Fyi..I’m also manager at Big4.

The value is determined by the position needing filled, not by you. A manager at a private company with 100m in revenue will always make less than a manager at a company with 1b in revenue no matter how impressive your qualifications are. Sounds like you're not applying for the right jobs at the right companies.
