How did it go for anyone having taken it in Q4?
I am scheduled for two weeks from now… trying to get a handle on the variety of topics.November 27, 2018 at 9:15 am #2072831
It was a lot more straight forward than I expected. I passed BEC in 2017, but the credit expired and had to re-take it. Took it in Q3 and got 71, but I guessed on all 4 TBS. This time around, I finished MCQs in 2 hours and left 2 hours for TBS and WC. I was able to read through TBS without any stress or pressure (not too many attachments), there were no surprises, nothing I haven't seen before in lectures or work experience. Took my 15 min break, completed the rest of TBS and WC (the last WC I did not do a spectacular job on, but I was ready to get out). I left feeling pretty good. I know I did a better job this time around than in Q3 so hopefully it's enough to push me over 75. Good luck and try to relax! I didn't know how much I remembered and knew till I was breezing through the questions and felt pretty good about my answers.November 27, 2018 at 3:09 pm #2073419
Any areas in specific you would emphasize going over? Any tips for final week or so of preperation?November 27, 2018 at 4:20 pm #2073482

Thank you, hopefully we will walk feeling the same 🙂
I feel very disheveled this time around. I think I've been taking these exams way too long and brain capacity has taken a nose dive.
Good luck to all!November 28, 2018 at 12:23 pm #2078315
Believe me @sg235, I know exactly how you feel! I've been at it since 2009! Took two parts then, let those expire, picked it back up in 2016 and have been taking at least 2 parts every quarter. Prometric guys are now officially my closest friends. I took FAR on Nov.12 and had the same experience as BEC. Just straightforward MCQs and TBS (and no DRS on either exam). But I walked in not sweating it at all this time. “Been there, done that, If I don't pass, I will just re-take it” attitude and that's what helped me relax and really remember things I've learned and seen in professional life. Just one thing about the BEC TBS: almost everything was common sense and formulas and metrics were all provided. I have no doubt you can do it!!! Good luck!!!November 28, 2018 at 10:48 pm #2080901
@Zmosburn– Been at it since 2008 on and off.. so I got you on this one.. lol! YOU are lucky you didn't have any DRS on FAR! Mine was loaded with them. Thank you for the rest of the tips.. I'm feeling really nervous about cost accounting because I just seem to be taking way too long on the MCQ and just dragging on the concepts this time around so that is a major area of concern I feel right now. I want to make it through this time as this cloud has been raining on my parade way too long!November 29, 2018 at 9:42 am #2082740
@Sg235-Last time I had DRS on the exam was in REG Q2. I had 2 DRS. Completed one and totally guessed the other because I was running out of time. Passed with 77. That was a MIRACLE! I was laughing with my co-workers because I think when I logged into the Prometric's computer to take FAR and BEC in Q4 and the system recognized it was me, they just dummied the exam up for me so that I could FINALLY pass it! 🙂 Go over typical job cost journal entries with and without variances and memorize the flow. It can be very helpful!!!November 29, 2018 at 12:24 pm #2083845
From the study material it seems like the typical Engineer with MBA working in corporate type industry for 5 or 10 years (which is most of my friends and co-workers) should be able to pass. Its all the corporate jargon which if you work in the industry should know well – continuous improvement, lean, JIT, 6 sigma, ROI, FIFO, etc etcNovember 29, 2018 at 12:43 pm #2083950
haha.. I hope whatever they did you will be done with these exams soon! I will work on that- Thanks! If anything else comes to mind before the 6th let us know!December 3, 2018 at 7:00 pm #2098101

omg, @zmosburn and @sg235 are cracking me up…then again, I might be losing my mind…I am eating frosting right out of the container with a fork. Developed a deep relationship with the mailman, we make eye contact at my front door several times a week. Convinced God changed my FAR score to passing to stop my daily drivels.
Thanks for tips and the laughs!December 4, 2018 at 10:49 am #2098653
Oh man, @Red, I never thought of frosting!!! I've been on a steady diet of brownies and baklava, but frosting sounds so good right now!!! 🙂 Tomorrow is the day for you and Thursday is for @sg235. You guys can do this!!! Just relax and trust your knowledge! From some other posts I have been reading on this forum in the past couple of weeks, people are having the same experience as I had with the exams. Fairly easy, straightforward, no confusion. We all will pass!!! And if all else fails, we'll pray to that score changing God! 😉December 5, 2018 at 1:06 pm #2100729
hehe.. good luck today Red and keeping my fingers crossed for tomorrow and for everyone on the 11th and 19th!December 5, 2018 at 2:34 pm #2100906
Good luck tomorrow Sg235! You will shine! And I want to hear your and Red's experience when you get done!December 5, 2018 at 2:52 pm #2100933
My BEC is tomorrow. Then wait for results on it and REG and hope I'm done.
BTW – has anyone seen actual Written Communication RESPONSE SAMPLES? All I can seem to find are sample Questions and TIPS. Since I'm a learn by example guy I'd love to see a good one and a bad one (as well as a real world one that is “just good enough” and still gets full points), so I can see both what to do and what not to do.December 5, 2018 at 5:13 pm #2101134
@ZMosburn- Thank you so very much!! Yes, you sure will hear about it tomorrow and on 11th & 19th ..or maybe just 19th
Hey.. I saw your response to Iceman a little bit ago .. can you send any over to me? Not sure if you deleted your post or the forum did..
@Iceman – Good luck to you tomorrow also!! Looks like we are in the same boat – taking BEC tomorrow and also going to be waiting for REG and BEC score release coming up here. Fingers crossed!December 5, 2018 at 5:22 pm #2101137
I take BEC tomorrow too! Good luck everyone!December 5, 2018 at 6:36 pm #2101206

I just came out of the test and I feel like someone ran me over twice. The questions were so random and some of the topics were like nothing I saw in NINJA or Becker. The mcq screwed be over but I’m hoping that I got some points on the SIMs. I do not feel good about this one but I’m going to try not to think about it until the 19th and prepare for a retake until then.December 7, 2018 at 4:49 pm #2104161
Sorry I didn't around to posting yesterday.. was done for the day.. lol!
It was all over the place for sure and I found that the first testlet was calc heavy while second was lighter.
The TBS though.. all DRS 🙁 except the WC.
Z– you and I must have similar exams .. I also SWOT and KPI and lots of variances.
Now taking it easy for a few days till the scores come in. Fingers crossed!!December 7, 2018 at 5:22 pm #2104206
Taking BEC on Monday. Any last minute studying tips or guidance? I feel the least prepared for this section compared to the other sections.
FAR – 76
AUD – 77
REG – 85
BEC – 12/10/18December 7, 2018 at 7:49 pm #2104422December 7, 2018 at 8:09 pm #2104425
Maybe I blacked out during the exam but I had two, maybe three variance questions🤨 Saw lots of ratios, probability and COSO. Ratios-easy peasy, right? My brain started messin’ wit me…was thinking is Current ratio CA/CL?? or CL/CA??🤔December 8, 2018 at 6:56 pm #2105319
I was feeling more prepared for BEC than I was for any other section. This one still has me scratching my head though. First MCQ was straight forward, only a couple I wasn't sure on. 2nd Testlet much harder. TBS were calculation intensive, the first time I've used a spreadsheet on any exam. I felt I was budgeting time well, got throught MCQ in less than two hours, still ran short of time on my 3rd written, so I'm pretty nervous about how it went. One TBS was a head scratcher.
Make up was mostly what I was expecting, COSO and variance heavy. Much less on micro/macro than I expected, very few on governance. I've heard it more than once, but so many more IT questions than I expected, and the questions seemed really on the fringe of the material – things I wouldn't have really expected to see based on the direction Gleim had me studying. Outside of running out of time, I didn't feel like the written prompts were too difficult.
I've passed REG, FAR and AUD with reasonable scores on the first try, this may be my first fail. Now to go find something to keep me busy for another week and a half…and maybe consider different study material for a re-take.December 8, 2018 at 7:04 pm #2105325
@Angie – that doesn’t sound too bad and your previous scores are impressive!!December 9, 2018 at 11:44 am #2105790
@red I had the same experience as you. The first teslet was more calculation based (cost accounting, financial management). I thought I did well on the first testlet. Oddly, the second testlest didn’t seem harder. The second testlet asked some super weird conceptual questions. They weren’t wordy like FAR’s second testlet, which is throwing me off because I’m not sure if that means I did bad on the first testlest. It had more IT, COSO, and ERM. 3/4 of the sims were super easy. They were more ratios and analyzing. I thought 2/3 of the WCs were easy as well.
I took the exam last quarter and got a 74. Last quarter I had a ton of variance questions but not even one this quarter.
I’m praying I passed because this is my last one. I worked my butt off studying for this last exam.December 12, 2018 at 2:04 pm #2111709
@CPAmojo, you passed BEC and are done! Congratulations!!!!December 12, 2018 at 2:46 pm #2111793December 12, 2018 at 5:24 pm #2112024
@red thank you!! Worked my butt off for a 76 on BEC. Passed the first three on my first try but kept failing BEC. I’m so glad to be done with BEC and this whole exam. Good luck on your score releases! I know you’re going to do well.
