Thanks gang. I am trying to wrap it up and get a good night sleep. I don't feel ready, and I know I have a good group in my corner, so I hope I can get a pass. At this point it is what it is. Thank you all for a good study group this window. I'm going on to Far after this. I will definitely incorporate some different study techniques for Far.May 15, 2019 at 9:55 am #2403525May 15, 2019 at 10:57 am #2403675May 15, 2019 at 4:07 pm #2404383
@tncincy are you there ! Your long silence ( which is usually) on this forum is making us nervous with respect to yesterday's REG exams .Any update?May 15, 2019 at 4:10 pm #2404386
Oh Lord, Just got finished with Reg. All I can say is be ready for any and every thing. Wasn't have many calculations but capital gains and losses Oh my God. I feel good about the test but feelings is just a feeling 🙁 . I probably could have used more study time. My sim was so easy, almost too easy. But again just a feeling. Oh I don't know. On to far with a better plan. I just feel like I was all over the place. when I took the test the same feelings. If I have to take it again, I will not hang my head, I will do better with study.May 15, 2019 at 4:15 pm #2404398
Thank God you felt great. You will surely pass and join some of us ( CPAs) All the best . Welcome to CPA !!!!May 16, 2019 at 11:55 am #2406150
So I'm at a crossroads. Took me three tries to pass Audit. Eventually passed with an 83. When I passsed with an 83, I was getting 90-95 on every single chapter of the multiple choice questions provided by Becker, and I thought that gave me a great basis when taking the tests.
I then began taking REG, which was horrendous. However, I eventually got to the point where I was passing every single section of the chapters with a 90-95% so I thought I was good. I just took the REG test yesterday, and am pretty sure I will get a 60% or below. I studied my ass off, and I spent a lot of time studying and focusing. If I dont get above a 70, I dont know if I can continue wasting my time and money. The test I took asked me multiple questions about topics that were barely covered by Becker, and when it came down to the Sims, every single one had numerical amounts to be entered, meaning you either needed to know the topic 100% or you'd get no credit for the topic. Stuff as simple as determing someone's taxable income became ridiculous because you had to sift through 7 different W-2s, with amounts in every box possible. I'm not an accountant, nor did I see any of this in Becker, so how am I supposed to know it?
Basically, I find out May 23 how badly I failed, and I was wondering if anyone was running into the same issues I was, or if I should just quit my pursuit of the CPA. I thought I was well prepared going in, and coming out, I'm not sure what else I should have looked at or how I should have attacked my studying differently.May 16, 2019 at 2:14 pm #2406558
@kyle I think you need to breathe a bit – you don't know how you did so use this time to stop thinking about it and REST! It is normal to fail tests multiple times – it's not a sign to give up, but to persevere if this is your goal. But you may not have failed – you don't know how they will curve the test. Everyone had those difficulties utilizing those W2s….it was hard!! They have to give partial credit somehow.May 16, 2019 at 2:18 pm #2406570
@74phnoenix lol thank you i appreciate the support… I'd always just rather assumed I'd failed after feeling the way I feel so I wont be nearly as disappointed by the result. I feel like so much of it is honestly luck with which sims you are provided. What materials do you use? I'm thinking about hopping on the ninja train for the 67 a month or whatever it is, but I only want to do that if i'll get more in depth, difficult questions, making the exam itself hopefully more simpleMay 16, 2019 at 2:38 pm #2406633May 16, 2019 at 3:09 pm #2406675
@74phoenix thank you! i thought i was the only person who thought becker did a terrible job at explaining things sometimes. I was thinking about switching between both as well, and I think I'm going to give it a try. I truly believe with the volume of multiple choice questions out there, you should easily be able to study with those and see questions extremely similar to those on the exam. Becker is not awful, however I don't think their questions are as comprehensive as they should be for a test prep. I would also rather struggle while I study so the test itself is easy. Does the 67 a month include the book and everything or just the multiple choice?May 16, 2019 at 3:50 pm #2406768
Does anyone have any recommendations of cramming in 2 weeks haha? I've only gotten through Module 1 and have the rest to go and have never had any experience with tax before… taking it on May 30May 16, 2019 at 5:22 pm #2406837May 16, 2019 at 5:50 pm #2406885
No, I did not see that. That helps a lot – thank you!May 16, 2019 at 6:17 pm #2406981
So should I move on or wait for score release . I so have an NTS for Far but I have not scheduled to take the exam. I'm still trying to get it together. I also have 2018 Far Becker videos, can I use those for Far?May 16, 2019 at 10:23 pm #2407494
@tncincy, since score release is only a week out, I think you should wait. I don't know what, if any, changes there have been to FAR.May 17, 2019 at 7:48 am #2407902
@23 I can agree. I have extensions and work to do anyway. My mind is just anxious and I have quite a bit to go. So I need to slow down and get my plan together, get my work done so I won't have any regrets.May 18, 2019 at 3:03 pm #2410542
How's it going? Everybody relaxing, studying, or anxiously waiting the score release.May 18, 2019 at 3:09 pm #2410569
I started REG 6 this morning. Been studying since 7:30am with breaks after each module. I have 1 more module (module 4 circular 230) before calling it a day. My exam is for June 10th and Im getting more anxious every day. Plan to be done with REG 8 next week and hammer forms preparations and SIMs with some MCQs and mock exams here and there. I'm exhausted 🙁May 18, 2019 at 3:10 pm #2410584
Does anyone who has taken the test know if we need to memorize every single phase out? There are so many I feel like it will be impossible to memorize every single one of them. Especially with having zero tax experience. Any advice would help!May 18, 2019 at 3:16 pm #2410605
@Ali I didn't remember any phase outs. If any would be a given.
@sidieuleveut We know how you feel. Keep going, but take a break in between. Don't burn out this is a long journey.May 18, 2019 at 7:30 pm #2411115
Final weekend here – test on Wednesday. Feel as though I've been slowing down the past few weeks. I've been hitting the MCQ daily however. Ready to get this test over with.May 18, 2019 at 8:49 pm #2411265
Any tips using becker to study? Sitting in about 2 weeks and im just repeating MCQ in each “R” (homework questions). Did the all the simulations and have 1 practice test left. Did you keep repeating the MCQs in each “R” til you got a certain score?May 18, 2019 at 10:34 pm #2411394
what do you mean in each R?May 18, 2019 at 10:39 pm #2411397
Like module 1 R1 etc.May 19, 2019 at 7:28 am #2411763May 19, 2019 at 9:08 am #2411892
@23 excited for you. It's ok to slow down as to not get burnt out before the test. You know more than you think!! I'm excited for you and believe in you!May 19, 2019 at 10:15 pm #2413500
Hope study is going well. I spent the yesterday and today relaxing and reflecting on the test. I am doing ok with waiting for score release. I have work to do next week before I get the news. Good luck to those going in next week. Breathe to the rest of us waiting.May 20, 2019 at 9:10 am #2414070
Anyone else take REG in this past testing window and feel like they failed? Thought the multiple choice was okay, disregarding the fact that a majority of my questions were regarding Circular 230 and the statue of frauds, which Becker asked maybe 50 questions total on. Pretty sure I failed due to the ridiculous simulations asking you to look through 8+ documents to place a number into a box. Basically either you're 100% correct or 100% wrong with these sims it felt like
