    Hi all,

I just took BEC last Thursday and will receive my results next week. Crossing my fingers I passed!!! I passed audit in June and plan to take regulation at the end of November/first week in December. I will be using the Wiley textbook and test bank along with Ninja’s MCQ bank. I am looking for some advice from candidates who have taken regulation during 2016. What are some of the highly tested topics? What simulations have been showing up on recent exams? Any tips or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I would say don't bother even taking the MCQ for chapter 1- individual taxation until way later as there are questions for S corp and partnerships because they flow through. It was pretty frustrating, getting half the questions wrong when they aren't on topics even covered until you get 1/4 of the way through the book.

The chapter that has the most information to memorize and the foundation you need to know the most is individual taxation and then take it from there. Bus Law is a lot of information for a little amount of payoff but compared to tax questions, they are easy questions you don't want to miss. I have to say the only part I liked and thought was easy was ethics.

Thank you Christina. Are the simulations more geared toward taxation as opposed to business law?

Expect the mcq to have an even mix of tax, bus law, and ethics and expect the SIMS to be tax and also expect them to be freaking hard and and least ONE to throw you for a loop. The worst part is I studied so many topics in bus law that were zero-zilch on the test but if I hadn't studied I wouldn't have known the answers to the few they did ask.

I studied tax 3 times (rescheduled 3 times- going over it twice in the beginning because INDIVIDUAL tax has so damn much to remember) and bus law once and then went over it again. All I can say is I don't even know if I passed because it seemed there were only 2 modes on that test, I knew the answer or i guessed big time.

I took REG twice this year. I remember that tax was very bad (it could be subjective though since I was weak on tax). Anyway, Ninja MCQs and SIMs were great. They helped me build confidence on tax. Also, please do not forget the last min. cram. I always studied in the morning of my exam. Good luck!

Wiley was overwhelming for me, maybe because I wanted to squeeze all the lectures in 4 weeks. I felt that I knew things well, but during review time with Ninja MCQs, I was scoring between 20 and 40%…then I didnt care anymore about the score and started doing sets of 20 questions over and over. After a week and half of multiple choices, I raised my trending to 88%, and I am praying for the best for September 20th.

What's also frustrating is the SIMs in these review courses are nothing like the exam (took Reg 3x and still haven't passed). Not to say don't practice them but also don't expect a mirror SIM. Btw, I think chances of a Biz Law SIM is low.

There are no sims for business law. All sims are tax. If your cram course provide sims for business law, its is only for reinforcement of concepts, I completely skipped through those.
