I agree with mtaylo24 that Gleim does a good job with their sims. I used the full program for FAR, but switched to Ninja for my second retake. There was a sim on my first FAR test that was very similar to a Gleim practice question, but since it was my first test ever, I was kind of panicked and felt pressed for time so I did not review the sims in depth and got that question wrong.

I only used Ninja for AUD and BEC, but have been using the Gleim REG sims for my test on the 10th (only using Ninja for MCQ). I'm also doing the same thing as mtaylo24: just reviewing the correct answers instead of taking the quizzes since there's so much info to get through.

    FAR: 69, 65, 84 (8/31/15, 11/28/15, 2/23/16)
    AUD: 86 (5/28/16)
    BEC: 81 (8/27/16)
    REG: 85 (12/10/16)

    FAR-69, 65, 84 (Feb. 2016)
    AUD-86 (May 2016)
    BEC-TBD (Aug. 2016)
    REG-TBD

Gleim didn't work for me, but Ninja did!

I just finished my exam. I feel pretty good about the MCQ but the Sims…geez! I'm not even sure if I got the right paragraph for the research question, as it was very vague. I tried using the AL, but it didn't help much with the other questions. I gave it my best. Here's to hoping I passed.

Okay, I took the exam on 11/5 and I felt absolutely bad. And it turned out I got a 88. I'd say I did medium on MCQs, and I got 3 out of 6 questions full points, and I probably got partial credits on the rest (about 50% correct I'd say, based on my score). Now I ritually believe they curve, and please do enough MCQs and understand the concept behind each question. You will get a passing score! Keep positive!!

    FAR 08/08/2015 passed
    BEC 08/27/2015 passed

I took REG on Monday, and I have no idea how it went. The sims were a lot easier than the sims I had on FAR and AUD. The MCQ's were a different story. I hope the harder MCQ's I got right weren't pretest questions.

CPAShoes, I know what you mean, going over the same material all over again is a real emotional drain. I am really trying to focus on tax. The first time I divided up my time about 60 tax – 40 biz law and that yielded stronger results on all the biz law stuff, but my one weaker element was entity taxation. I must have gotten hammered on that one as I had stronger or comparable in all the other categories and my overall MCQ result was weaker. I am assuming my poor mcq results are the reason for my failure as I was not expecting to do well with the sims and didn't.

So basically I am going back through all the materials in CpaExcel for tax…watching videos, taking notes, making flash cards…and working the test like I am studying the first time. I am going to add Rodger's Cram as I am a visual learner and I like his lectures. I also have the Ninja Audio for my drive to and from work.

Re2pect, best of luck, I really hope you are just stressed and that it all turns out ok.

Thanks Pawn Maker. I knew I didn't have enough time to study and burnt myself out the last couple weeks trying to squeeze everything in. On top of that, my son decided he didn't want to sleep through the night anymore and was keeping my wife and I up through all hours of the night the last couple weeks. I'm just going to take a mulligan on this one and treat it like it was a practice exam.

I've read all the stories on here about how crazy the sims were, but never thought they would totally crush me the way they did lol. Granted I didn't practice many, but the sims I did were nothing like the real ones. I added the Gleim test bank and will be doing every sim on there. Supposedly they're really good and the closest thing you'll see to what's on the exam.

I just took my test on the 29th as well. The multiple choice I felt were fair. Definitely more tax than anything. The SIMS however blew my mind. The research question took way more time than it should and there was definitely a question that had nothing to do with REG and had more to do with FAR.

Hoping I passed. I retake BEC on January 13. So, I need to get this in before tax season.

Just got out of my test, MCQ was kinda brutal probably got 5-7 wrong on each testlet, kind of random questions. SIMS were ridiculously easy, I was 100% sure on 4 of them, got the research right and the 6th I was 80% sure on.

Has anyone else had this experience? Wondering if my SIM performance was enough for a pass despite mediocre MCQ performance?

    @jakalis

sounds like my aud performance — but could def tell my mcqs were getting harder (4-5 lines in questions towards the last two testlets)

Sims were doable. (versus being completely out of left field)

    Got an 84.

“ridiculously easy” because you knew them (the topics — went over in books?) or because it was simple to figure out?

Pawn Maker, I am doing the same, starting from the beginning. Will emphasize on the trouble areas though. It seems like my problems were the SIMS. I scored comparable on the MCQ's.

I just finished my REG retake about an hour ago. I definitely felt better prepared this time, but I'm not sure if I passed or not. The second testlet was really easy. I mean, entirely too easy. But then the 3rd testlet was way more difficult. The TBS section was difficult per usual and the research question ate up a lot of time. Has anyone here passed despite getting an easy second testlet? How does it even work?
