    Hi All,

I need some advice. REG is my last section and I failed with a score of 72. I need to get back into studying and I feel super depressed and tired.

I used Becker Self Study, Becker Final Review and also got the Ninja Notes.

Any suggestion for how to prepare for the SIMS. I know lot of threads should be there on this topic. Also any additional supplementary materials required especially for SIMS.

Becker SIMS seems to be very simple . I also had the Becker Final review. It is actually simple and easy than the Becker Self Study one.

Any suggestion and advice helps a lot. I am totally demotivated and need some help on preparing for REG again.

Thanks for all the help 🙂

With Reg, one suggestion I've made (and seen others make) is to print out the different forms that you need and use your real life information. This will help solidify certain areas, making it easier to remember how to do it.

I also suggest if you have a really difficult area, you condense everything into your own words, and teach someone that topic. This seems to help people retain the information better. In order to teach someone, you have to understand it.

Don't make the mistake of studying for 3 points, you need a fresh, clean 75. You will, most likely, not see any questions that are similar on your retake. If you put a lot of faith into your score breakdown and only study the weaker areas, you are setting yourself up for failure.

Good luck on your retake! You've passed 3, so you know what you need to do for the 4th!

    AUD - 83
    BEC - 78
    FAR - 80
    REG - 80
If at first you don't succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried!

    REG: 80 (02/19/16)
    AUD: 83 (04/11/16)
    BEC: 78 (05/28/16)
    FAR: ?

Ugh, I'm right there with you! REG is my last section and I failed with a 71 this morning after passing the others on the first try! It sucks but I'm gonna get my new NTS ASAP and try to schedule for around the end of the first score release wave in January. I agree with what Ginja said too. Do an overall review and make sure you understand everything because the questions are gonna change. But the fact that you got a 72 is a great sign! And you at least have another chance at passing REG before the 2017 exam changes.

    AUD - 87
    BEC - 80
    FAR - 78
    REG - 78

I'm in the same boat. REG is my last exam and had a 74 this morning. Going to start fresh on everything and get this test out of the way at the beginning of next year. Thank you to everyone who has given tips and strategies for passing. I will use them for the next 6 weeks.

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 79
    FAR - 84
    REG - 81
If you study you will pass.
Thank you to my wonderful wife who spent many hours calling out formulas and quizzing me on notes. We did it!!

    FAR - 84 - 11/14/15
    AUD - 76 - 2/6/16
    BEC - 73 - 7/13/16

Thank you guys. I really appreciate it. I just paid the exam fee. I will wait for my NTS to come through.

71 and 74. I know it hurts a lot. I thought I will get a 75 and no need to study through the holidays.

I will start fresh. Maybe I will focus more on Tax. I studied more BL and I saw less questions on BL . All the SIMS are from tax and I think I need to understand the concepts very well.

These exams takes an emotional toll .

Thanks again for the incredible support from this forum and it keeps me going.

Thank you guys and we can do it 🙂

    I got the scorecard today.

    Weaker in
    Individual taxes.
    Federal Tax process.

    Stronger in
    Taxation on Entities
    Taxation on property taxation

    Comparable in
    Business Law
    Ethics and Legal responsibilities

    Weaker in SIMS
    Stonger in MCQ's

      I scored 72.

If you guys are in my position what will be your study plan for the retake and you plan to retake sometime in Jan end. This will be very helpful. I am not even able to think now.

      My BEC expires on 02/28/2017.

I also bought Gliem. It has lot of practice SIMS like under 20 headings – almost 100 SIMS.

Thanks again for helping me with the study plan and I really appreciate it.

Sounds like I’m in the same boat as a lot of you. I took REG on 12/5 and thought I was more prepared than I was for any other section. I must have done 1,500 MCQs and repeated close to 1,000 of them. I was shocked to see my 71.

I put the material down for two weeks to catch my breath, but now I have a decision to make. A) study for the next three weeks thru the holidays for a Jan 9th retake. Or B) get thru busy season (70 hours a week up until Feb 6th), and take a retake at the end of February… My only fear with option B is after all of those busy work hours that my mind will be too fried out. At least now the material is somewhat still fresh in my head. Will hopefully only take a couple of weeks to make it part of my DNA again.

When are the rest of you planning your Q1 retake? Early testing period (while it’s still fresh), or at the end of the window?

    FAR 75
    BEC 81
    AUD 71, 84
    REG 69, 71, 83

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016
    AUD - TBD

@oldercandidate21. I think better take it at the earliest you can. I started studying again from Friday and its not bad. Weekend I am able to do Becker Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 Questions – Individual taxation and Adjustments – 234 and scored 84% and 86%. So it is at least fast. I did around 30 questions in Gliem yesterday night and scored 69%.Good luck and you can do it 🙂
