Took FAR this past week. Want to take REG on June 9 to get both scores in time for the June score release. I will start studying May 13..giving me exactly 4 weeks to study. I realize this might be impossible to do with a full time job and having to work till midnight during month end closing.. but let’s say i only read the business law parts, skip business law MCQS (btw using becker so that’d be R6-8) and..read only the taxation chapters (R1-5) and do the mcqs once only for those.. and go in and take the exam and hope for a 75.

    Too optimistic? or..fat chance!!

My advice would be to go ahead and least give it a shot! As you have passed some exams, your clock is now ticking. Worst case scenario would be a failing score, however you can then sign up again for REG in the next quarter in which you would have already built a knowledge base for the material. Best of luck!

Go for it! I will always give the advice to target these exams aggressively. I honestly don't understand how some people put in 300-400 hours in 2-3 months for one exam… I am doing the same thing as you for FAR after I take REG on May 11th. For REG, I think if you do enough MCQ's you can really start to pick up on everything. I would strongly consider getting Ninja for $60 or whatever and reading through the notes and listening to the audio. Also, the Ninja MCQ's mirror the exam pretty well.

@Starved_Wolf do you have any background in tax? I don't have any, but REG seems to be pretty straightforward if you put in the time. I have studied hard and have even watched the lectures which I didn't do for the other 3 sections and it has helped quite a bit (I have Wiley and the dude is a good teacher). However, I still think it can be done from a minimalist studying plan if you really buckle down (Notes/skim text, tons of MCQ's).

I like your plan. My only suggestion would be to start studying now instead of waiting until May 13. @skolvikes is right. I like having an aggressive mindset with these exams. I couldn't imagine having these exams hanging over my head for long periods of time like some people. Especially since passing the exams is only one part of obtaining your licensure.

Thanks guys for not thinking that this is mission impossible haha. I don't have a background in tax so I know I might struggle with the material quite a bit. But it's going to be 4 weeks of crazy insane studying so i'm hoping the material will somehow stick.

I know I should start asap but i'm honestly burnt out from studying for FAR. I got very little sleep before the exam ( I'm a crammer, always have been and always will be I guess haha) and very little sleep after the exam because of work. I'm going to start off slow this upcoming week and start the 4 weeks of crazy intense cramming session the week after.

@skolvikes i couldn't do what you're planning on doing for FAR. Best of luck to you!! FAR is one tough monster!

@starved_wolf I am really hoping that the knowledge gained from my first attempt can be built on otherwise I will be screwed… I just want to at least give myself a chance. The longer this process has gone on, the more fed up I have become and I am willing to do whatever it takes to be done ASAP!

@starvedwolf I felt burnt out after taking FAR too after preparing for three months. I gave myself the evening off from studying the day I took FAR then started preparing for AUD. I take AUD on May 8th but I can tell I should have taken a few days off from studying after FAR because it's taking some serious will power to stay motivated preparing for AUD. Good Luck on REG.

    Hard work and Dedication!

I'm in a similar boat. I'm WAY behind on my studies for FAR due to work and life, but I'm not pushing my exam back because I want to take it this quarter. I'm giving this the best I've got with the thought that I'll probably have to re-take FAR. I'm just going to continue studying for it after taking the exam, and if needed will take it in Q3.

I'm using Becker, too. I'm going through all MCQ's, and I'm hoping that I'll have time to at least look at the answers to the SIMs before test time. I also plan on checking out the AICPA practice test the day before.

Maybe we will know enough to get a 75. I've read on here where people have skipped multiple SIMs, and/or entered 0's and still managed to get around a 67. Good luck to you!

@Becca I literally bombed 6 of 8 sims from what I remember. I got the research and then there was an easy cash flow one that I got. Still got a 69 somehow. Give it a shot

Whoo hoo! Received my REG text in the mail on Friday and finally decided to open the package today. I'm pleasantly surprised that the REG book is a lot smaller/thinner than my FAR book.

If you have time squeeze in R6. Preparer ethics is heavily tested. Take time off work if possible.

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 92
    FAR - 82
    REG - 90

@The People’s Champ: That blows my mind, and it does every time I read similar experiences and scores. It does give me a little hope, though 😊

Was really hoping to come back on June 9th ( my original test date for REG) and tell ya'll how easy the exam went but it looks like i'm not going to make it. I'm only a little halfway through my material. It's a really hard pill to swallow right now as I was hoping to squeeze in my last section before the June 27 score release. Hate the fact that I have one more exam left and I won't be getting my score until September now. My first credit expires also in September. Bummer 🙁 I only have 1 chance to pass REG before my first credit expires.

The only good thing about this is that i can kind of slow down a bit and take my time to really understand the material. The last couple of weeks, i was in such a rush to get through the material that I may have failed to grasp a few of the key concepts.

I think it's a waste of money and time and adding extra stress to take an exam you're not adequately prepared for. I'm taking one exam every 3 months but I certainly don't spend 300-400 hours studying, maybe 120-175. If you think you can adequately prepare to have a high likelihood of passing in 4 weeks then go for it (it's definitely doable depending on your schedule and available time). If it's a hail mary attempt on not enough preparation then I think you're just setting yourself up for heartache.

If you have the money you could still throw up a hail Mary. Just get through tax and hope the ethics and biz law questions you get are fairly common sense. Might as well try IMO if you dont mind paying for it. Then just continue studying hard for it assuming you didnt pass and prep for the retake. Best case scenario you shock yourself with a pass in June, worst case you take it in Q3 like you're already planning for

    REG - 92 (1/17)

    BEC - 82 (2/17)

    AUD - 89 (5/17)

    FAR - 94 (9/17)

Rogers Elite + Becker mcqs/sims for all 4 exams

    WA State Ethics Exam - 83, 83, 90 (9/17)

    AICPA Ethics Exam - 95 (9/17)

    1-year of work - complete (11/18)

    Licensed WA State CPA
