I’m planning to do a REG retake by end of this week hopefully. I redid the Corp section (C Corp, Partnerships, S-Corps) and was feeling really good like I had finally gotten it down. A few days 3-4 days after doing other sections went back in to re-review and to my surprise I couldn’t remember how to solve the basic questions.. has anyone else experienced the same or am I losing it? How did you guys get around this to have an effective review?
    Thanks

Hi, I think it's pretty normal to not remember everything after a couple of days. I am preparing for REG too and there are times I find my myself struggling to remember concepts which I thought I knew very well right after I studied them. There is a lot to be retained in this subject, especially with the different rules for different corporations.
I am a total newbie for this exam, and everyone has their own way of remembering and doing things. All I can suggest is try not memorizing the rules, but understanding why they are the way they are. Once you question and understand why a particular thing is added/ subtracted, why FMV is taken instead of AB, you will retain the material better. Also, whenever you are tired of studying, take a break and scan through the side notes you made for the rules, once in a day.
Also, I was told an insightful thing by someone here- keep testing yourself for topics you have previously studied, so as to keep the topics fresh in your mind. This can be done by taking out a day in a week to just do practice question sets on topics you have learnt in that week and before.

    Hope that helps!

That was my biggest mistake not practicing the section after completion till it was time to review. Thank you for the rest of the info!
