    Hey guys – so I have been struggling with reg for the past year (only exam left) and I just took a mock exam and scored 76. I have done all of the becker MCQ, all of the simulations based on the AICPA blueprint, and I have supplemented NINJA MCQ about 3 weeks ago. I haven’t been able to get through all of the NINJA MCQ but I have put in a good dent, trending score is 82%.

    Any recommendations to improve my score? My exam is on Monday so this weekend I will just be focusing on the areas where I am struggling, particularly the sims.

    Thanks for your help!

    Hey bud, so it sounds like you are doing well! Remember that the Becker exams are always harder for most people. You are on the right track. What I would recommend is that you keep doing what you are doing to the 10th degree. Beat the MCQ's to death, beat the sims to death, look back over the text book, recite the code that you struggle with, make it happen.

    You are going to do well based on your description, just solidify everything you have mastered. I have faith, do well!

    There's the concept of the “Becker bump” – many people score higher on the exam than on their mock exams. (I had a 8 point bump on FAR and 12 point bump on AUD from my second mock exam, for example.) So you're in a good spot between Becker and Ninja. I always ask myself – what do I really hope they don't test me on? I want to review that stuff one more time and really lock it down, so that nothing they throw at me is that bad. They might not test on it, but if they do I'm not screwing up an entire SIM on stuff I should have reviewed one last time, know what I mean?

    @Jen J – yes I really hope this will be the case on the exam. So tired of seeing REG, this will be my fourth time 🙁 . But I agree with you – I have been reviewing the things “I do not want to be tested on” as this is what screwed me over the last time.

    Hope your REG exam went well! Best of luck on BEC!!

    @CPA 2018-the Becker bump didn't materialize for me on FAR. I would recommend some Ninja SIMS as well-they have a bunch where you have to fill out tax forms or portion of thereof, and even though the Ninja software for SIMS is a bit clunky it gives you a chance to look at things in a different way. Good luck-sounds like you are on the way to pass! I am re-taking FAR on Monday. Tomorrow is going to be a crazy big day for studying!

    I think you are in good shape. I would just keep reviewing at this point.

    I agree with anyatver. The “Becker bump” doesn't always work. So, I stopped doing practice or mock exams for that reason after doing BEC and AUD.

    If you want to knock out REG, you should look at the 2018 AICPA blueprints for REG and focus your studying (which you have done it seems). Yes, you should study subjects that you hope you won't be tested on. However, if that subject is only being tested at a “Remembering and understanding level” and it is only like 5% of the content of the test, you probably don't want to spend 15 hours on it. This was a trap I fell into before I learned about the blueprints. I just assumed that if you paid top dollar for a study system, it focused on the content that was going to be highly tested. I can tell you from my experiences that what Becker says is highly tested doesn't always match up with the blueprints. The same goes for some other cheaper study systems too.

    I've said it before but for REG, know individual and entity taxation really well. Also, have a good grasp of ethics and a high-level understanding of the BLAW. Don't go crazy with the BLAW until you have mastered the tax. Also, studying the IRS tax forms is a great way to better understand MCQ/SIMs.

    FYI: I am not posting any secrets here as what I just told you can be understood from looking at the AICPA blueprints.

    Good luck to you both.

    You have some awesome scores and I'm sure you will pass your two remaining parts with ease. If you are interested, I think there is an AICPA/NASBA webinar on 02/15/2018 which goes over CPA Exam strategy/AICPA blueprints. You have to register online for it.

    BEC = 79

    AUD = 79

    FAR = 84

    REG = 86

    Prayer + AICPA blueprints = my success

    BEC = 72 (6/08/16)
    FAR = ?
    REG = ?
    AUD = ?

    @anyatver – Thank you and good luck to you as well. Today will be a big day for us, and tomorrow we will be knocking both exams out the park 🙂 We WILL become CPA's!!!

    @lenticounter – you're awesome! Thank you so much for the feedback, congrats on finishing up the exam btw. As this is the last day before my exam, I will only be studying for a couple of hours so that I am not so overwhelmed. I will be focusing on the things “i dont want to be tested on” which will be my entire exam…ENTITY TAXATION haha.

    Best of luck to both CPA_2018 and anyatver tomorrow!

    CPA_2018, I hear you on the entity taxation. I'd much prefer not to be tested on it 🙂 This exam review is my first exposure to entity taxation so that's been overwhelming. I've been following the advice to really read the forms.
