Reg Retake After Time Off

Ninjas!! So I have officially been working in public accounting (tax) for 6 months now and let me tell ya, SALY is my new favorite acronym. Also, I have passed FAR, AUD, and BEC but found out in September that I failed Reg with a 72. I got so caught up with work and various family obligations that I have sort of put off my retake because I figured by the time I found out my score I might as well wait until the new reform became testable so I could use it to my advantage to learn the new tax code while studying for the exam (TBD whether this was the wisest move or not). My first exam expires in November so I think I have a little cushion (hopefully). I recently bought the Becker Final Review and the full course and was looking to get some insight from anyone who passed REG recently while working full time in Big4. What is a realistic time frame? What was your study schedule? Whats the best plan of attack for this Reg retake?

    AUD - 76
    BEC - 75
    FAR - 77
    REG - 81

    TaxShark,
I have never worked in Big Four, but I passed REG with an 87 after two months of studying primarily with NINJA, having never worked in tax. I would say the most important hints are to be consistent–do something EVERY day–I committed about two hours a day to studying. Also, take notes, written notes, while you are studying. There was something about writing the information down that really committed it to my memory. I left REG till the last because I really hated tax, but I ended up doing better in REG than anything else.

    You can do this!
