I am new to Becker and need advice of what strategy to use (Ninja vs. Becker or a combo). My REG retake is scheduled for early December and it is my last exam (FAR expires 12/31/16 eek!).

Do I follow Becker’s plan of watching videos/homework mc/sims/flashcards? Take notes on homework, after all lectures/homework complete read book taking notes on highlighted concepts.

I also have Ninja notes and mcq. I was going to focus on these 3 weeks before the exam.

From those who have used Becker and Ninja, can you tell me what strategy worked for you?

I appreciate the advice. I feel like I’m under the gun on this one, I don’t think I have it in me to retake FAR.

Some experts advise people to watch the video first then read and write down notes from the book. I prefer the opposite way. I'd like to first read and write down my own notes from the textbook then listen/watch the video during downtime or while driving. That way, I can follow along. I take the homework tests after learning each chapter.

With REG using Becker, I suggest you BEGIN WITH R5, R6, R7, & R8. The lectures from the last 4 chapters are discussed by Peter Olinto, one of the best CPA lecturers in the planet! THEY ARE WORTH LISTENING TO!

For the first 4 chapters of REG (R1-R4), do not bother to watch or listen to the video. It’s a complete waste of time because Tim Gearty only repeats the words “HIGHLIGHT” and “AGAIN AND AGAIN” a MILLION times. Simply annoying!

Just go straight to the well-laid out and well-highlighted EBook, read, and write down your own notes. After mastering each chapter or topic, I did find it more effective and efficient to answer or work on NINJA MCQs that the Becker’s Progress Test bank.

Print out all these IRS forms and schedules and become very familiar with all of their components:
    Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120
    Schedules A-K
