    1. The taxpayer takes an adjusted basis in the new securities equal to the cost plus the deferred loss from the wash sale.
    2. Holding period of the new stock or securities includes the holding period of the old stock or securities.

    Cost+deferred loss= Basis

    $3,750 + $1,000= $4,750

Do I really need to learn how to calculate how much social security benefits are included in gross income? I don't think I have enough space in my brain for that.

From my experience today, I would say that you need to know only a very select few phaseouts and probably not too much specifics like social security circadian. But put everything in your brain that you have room for!

Hey I have never completed a schedule M-1. M-2, or a form 1120 (it's been really long ago) it is worth the time? (other than curiosity)

I looked at those social security calculations this morning and said – not happening – no room.

I think the ninja notes have the social security calculations in it to nail down what is important about it.

Hey you know considering their reputation for being soft on MCQ's Wiley's SIM bank for Reg is pretty difficult. And they have quite a few DRS's to practice.

hmmmm, I didn't know, well, just skim enough to complete the drs. It's probably going to ask what portion is taxable.

    What about alimony recapture?

I think they gave everyone (CPA Excel users) access to the test bank because only the test bank has the DRSs. Apparently the test bank now has 15 DRSs (5 in REG, 5 in FAR, 5 in AUD).

Yeah the DRS arehard, somebody did a good job at developing them. Well, except they have the AL to audit on some tabs. Oh well. Roger has a link there but nothing when you click on it.

Do you have to do an update if you have cpaexcel to get the drs? I would like to see how it look at any rate.

You know I just bought Wiley's stand alone test bank and I haven't updated it. They are just there with a teaching module as well. Kudos to them, i actually thought they were kind of fun (in a really sad, pathetic, this Reg exam is my entire life now way.)

I'm half resigned/half rebellious at this point. I've worked very hard and It's very frustrating to look at my test bank scores.

I don't suppose anyone is taking it tomorrow – is prometric even open?

I was gonna gitter done this week – but plans are what you make, life (or the AICPA) is what happens. Sigh.
