REG – Time Requirements for MCQ Testlets during Exam?

    I’m having problems figuring out how in the hell a candidate could knock out 38 REG MCQ’s in the suggested 40-45 mins during the exam. There are a decent amount of calculations that require precision and some thinking.

    I’m shooting for 50 mins per REG MCQ testlet, even though I already know the SIMS are pretty bad.

    Any thoughts or feedback from successful REG candidates under the new Exam? This is my REG retake.

    Thanks.

    I have not taken Reg yet, but did the EA exam.
    Some questions will take more time, some take less time. It might average out.
    Practice practice practice.

    @ReckedRacing

    Thanks for your feedback. I agree that practicing the MCQ’s does really speed things up. I just don’t want to make an error in my calculation and get the MCQ wrong.

    I’m shooting for 50 mins, but 45 mins would be better. 40 mins is wayyyy too quick for me. I’d make a few mistakes that would be costly.

    Goodluck.

    I spent 1:15 hr just on the MCQ. It's you either you know it or you don't. I never bother wasting time writing much down on my paper, just did all the calculation on the on screen calculator. Skim through the mcq and answer the ones I can get through in a few seconds and deal with the longer/harder ones later.

    Gonna have to pick your poison here. Risk getting a few mcq wrong or wasting valuable time on the other half of the exam, sims.

    I tend to get through the MCQs quicker than I anticipate, but then get a chance to go back and review. If the problem seems like it will take a minute or two to figure out or calculate, I will flag it and come back at the end.

    I take REG Monday and that's the tactic I'm planning on doing. It worked well for me on AUD and FAR. I completed both of those with time to spare. I had something crazy like 40 minutes left on FAR.

    @Anthony

    You couldn’t have said it any better “pick your poison!” Lol. It’s a tough one that I will have to deal with. I’ll just shoot for 45-50 mins.

    @Jennifer

    That’s nuts you had 40 minutes left for FAR! Clearly you are a quick thinker and can solve problems quickly. Nice job!

    Thanks for everyone’s feedback. It has helped me further understand the importance of time
    management on this Beast named REG.

    Goodluck.
