So i got my score this morning and i failed REG with a stinking 72. :/ I used the CPA Excel materials, Ninja Audio and CPA Excel test bank. I am about 20% into AUD but i am putting it aside for now and re-focusing on passing REG. Any tips on taking this baby again? Anybody who is or was in the same boat? what did you do different?

    Hello TexasMom,

I was in the same situation 2 month ago. I failed my REG with 72 two weeks into studying FAR. I continued to study FAR until a month before REG re take. I supplemented my retake with Wiley Test Bank ninja note and ninja audio and did 25-50 mcqs on WTB a day and re did ones I marked or got wrong. I revisted my marked question on beckers and the sims few days before the exam. I was able to pull 83 doing this. I hope this helps!

Thanks! I was thinking of just focusing on the MCQ's as I'm not intending to sit through the Wiley lectures again. I think everything is still pretty fresh so i just bought the Ninja MCQ's to change it up a bit and the Ninja notes so i can start rewriting those. Was your second REG test completely different from the first?

Sorry for the late response, I was in the meeting all day. I didn't have time to rewrite the ninja notes but I had listened to ninja audio more than 5 times for each section during my commute. I agree with you doing the fresh set of mcqs will help you find your weakest topics. I also started working on the weaker area based on the score report. My first exam experience was all medium testlets. I had a feeling I was failing and indeed I failed with a 72. Second time around, the first testlet felt hard even though it was supposed to be a medium level. Second testlet got so hard I couldnt solve half of the problems. Then the third testlet was back to medium. Actually it was so much easier than the first testlet. I think I did average on my sims. I knew three of the sim question for 100%. Hope this helps!

I was in the same boat and passed the 2nd time around by booking the next available window right away. For the retake, I focused on tax only. The reason being… I don't think business law is tested in sims and the sims alone account for 40% of the exam score. Has anyone else seen business law as a sim? Both times I didn't.

I was able to raise my score by 12 points in order to pass reg the second time. I had ninja MCQ and was trending 77. My actual score was 76. My testlets were all medium! What save my rear was the sims. I'm pretty sure I got about 90% on the sims. I have to give credit to Gleim review on the Sim. Their sims were similar to what I saw on the exams. Hope this helps.

Hey Texas Mom a month ago I got a 74 on REG and was pissed, this time I studied for 3 weeks and focused mostly on tax and briefly on Blaw, I wound up doing great on the SIMS and worse on the multiple choice lol. My advice would be to focus on all of the materials but focus heavily on tax and practice researching using the IRC code because that saved me on my SIMS.

@Jstella 1993, what material did you use for the SIMS?

REG is the last section I need to pass, have it scheduled for June 10. I don't like the Wiley Test Banks simulations. Looking to buy something else in the next week to better prepare myself for those, since I didn't pass REG because of my performance on the SIMS.

Good luck with your retake! Hope we can both pass it the second time around & move on.

I used Roger Cpa honestly a lot of the sims are multiple choice questions on steroids, I would practice using the Irc code that saved my butt on the SIMS one of my Corp tax sims was right in the code which can be cumbersome to navigate through. The SIMS on cpa review courses are easier than actual sims on the exam in my opinion.
