Good to see the return. This power weekend was a definitely a motivator when I felt like I was in a lull. Just spent the 5/5 weekend with my two daughters graduation. This weekend 5/12 goes to my son's graduation. I am a proud parent but still need to pass this test and get on with my life. So welcome back power weekend. Oh, I will be doing mcq's between excitement.May 7, 2018 at 6:54 pm #1788726

This weekend I’ll be back for another power weekend. Two weeks ago, I was focused on preparing for an AUD retake. This time, I’m all in for a FAR retake next month. So, I’m trying to decide on the right plan of attack. I don’t want to set myself up for failure, but I must cover a lot of ground in order to feel as if I’m going to be able to attain my preparation goal. When I have a more concrete plan, I’ll be back to share so that I can hold myself accountable for actually completing it. I hope everyone is out there pushing studying hard. We can do this!May 12, 2018 at 10:01 am #1794617
Updating my power weekend goal… Since I'm retaking FAR, I've decided to start my studies all of the way over because I must've missed something and need to fill the gaps between concepts.
So, on Saturday, I'm going to review (videos, text, & mcqs) the conceptual framework, balance sheet, cash & cash equivalents, receivables, liabilities, cost & equity method, marketable securities & derivatives. On Sunday, I'm going to begin reviewing (vides, text, & mcqs) foreign operations, inventory, and fixed assets. I want to master as much of this as I can. Hopefully, you all are out here killing it too. Sending good juju to all of you.May 12, 2018 at 11:17 am #1794692
I planned to be rolling by 9am this morning, but woke up late and had to take care of some errands. My goal is to get through Business Law this weekend so that I can get the ball rolling with Taxation on Monday. Prayer needed!May 12, 2018 at 11:20 am #1794694
522 MCQs to work on this weekend for BLAW!
I’ll come back Monday 5/20 to brag: “Folks, I got it all done!”May 14, 2018 at 9:44 pm #1797274
I did only 200+ this weekend:(June 23, 2018 at 4:57 am #1842397
Ready to get through 400 MCQs this weekend. Feeling good about BEC this time around. Hoping to be done with 3 sections (if not all) by Christmas!!! What is everyone's weekend plan?!May 24, 2019 at 3:28 pm #2424432
Anyone want to join me for a power weekend?May 24, 2019 at 3:48 pm #2424537
Power weekend for me!! And looks like we are both studying for REG. My test is next Thursday and I took Tuesday and Wednesday off of work to study, so more like a power week for me!! What materials are you using to study?May 24, 2019 at 4:39 pm #2424666May 24, 2019 at 4:51 pm #2424699
I'm in. Although I am starting over, I'd didn't pass reg. I guess it feels good to know others are sacrificing the holiday to put a dent in study. My weak area is property transactions and capital gains and losses. Which some was on the test 🙁 , more investment, retirement, stock sales, partnerships and contracts. But I learned my lesson, study everything and do plenty of mcq's.
P.S I see I posted last year about this time, I didn't take the test last year because of all the excitement, and my son graduated again with his master's two weeks ago. Time really does fly.May 24, 2019 at 5:09 pm #2424765
Honestly, I have plenty of weak areas LOL. I’m very likely to rewrite the notes of my problem areas, watch NINJA Plus for the concepts and hit MCQs this weekend. BTW, I was on this thread last year around this time as well. Let’s go ahead and put a cap on this exam. I’m soooo tired of studying 😣May 24, 2019 at 5:47 pm #2424927
What does a power weekend entail?May 25, 2019 at 12:09 pm #2426373
A power weekend is just a weekend of CPA review study cram sessions on overdrive. People hammer out MCQs, rewatch review videos, rewrite notes, etc. You decide what you need to do in order to power through the material per se. It's just helpful to know you're not the only one out here studying your heart away on a holiday weekend.May 25, 2019 at 12:45 pm #2426448
My AUD exam is June 7 so this weekend and next weekend will both be power weekends. My plan this weekend is to complete section 4 in Wiley then do 300 MCQs(100 MCQs each for sections 2-4). Will start section 1 on Monday to finish up all sections. Keep grinding everyone!June 1, 2019 at 9:13 am #2440665
I'm in for power weekend. I am using it to re-gain a momentum. I am starting with notes and going topic by topic mcq's.June 1, 2019 at 10:08 am #2440809
I'm in for a power weekend as well. I just made it to my local Starbucks and I plan to do a mix of MCQs, note review, and videos for my struggle topics. I don't know what it is, but my trending score is sitting disrespectfully at 62%. I need to focus on gaining a better understanding of these concepts. I'm not sure if you mentioned it above, but have you already sat for REG?June 1, 2019 at 11:32 am #2441115
@BORN TO WIN, yes I have sat for reg and scored miserably. My trending score didn't get above 60% and I should have waited but just got too anxious about getting it over with. Well, it's over with a fail. 🙁 So this time I am going back to lectures and the book for problem areas.June 1, 2019 at 12:42 pm #2441259
^^Gotcha. Well, I'm confident you'll do much better and pass on the next go around. Each time I've failed, it's been because I went into the exam without knowing enough about the key topics. My hope on this last exam is to know enough about each topic in order to pull out a pass. I was supposed to do some MCQs, but I spent all of my time today viewing the PLUS videos, taking notes, and taking more notes. I'm actually going to take a much needed break and come back later this evening for about 3 hours. My hope is to view more videos, take and review more notes. I have to get better in my weak areas.June 1, 2019 at 2:56 pm #2441556
Just finished up all 4 AUD sections in Wiley. I'm going to start my review week a little early(today) and hopefully be prepared enough to take and pass the exam on June 7. Happy studying everyone!June 7, 2019 at 1:08 pm #2459271
It's power weekend again. I'm in. I've started this morning/afternoon re-writing ninja notes. I am going to incorporate several study suggestions with 100 mcq's per day. Fingers crossed, I hope I can get it done. I will be posting my hard questions so check in guys. Study hard, and good luck to those sitting soon.June 7, 2019 at 2:40 pm #2459523
Currently at work but I'm in as well. Work has been super stressful lately so sitting down to study has been difficult this week. I'm going to try to really get motivated and back on track this weekend. I just started REG about 2 weeks ago so I'm still learning the concepts, but I hope to make it through a good chunk of material this weekend.June 8, 2019 at 12:35 pm #2461980
I spent a lot of time yesterday re-writing Ninja notes and listening to audio. I put tabs in my book so I can easily find information for questions I struggle with. That wasn't my plan but it is a good foundation for my mcq session for today. My plan is to do 100 or more today. Not just do them but make sure I am learning and understanding. Keep studying hard, it will be test time before we know it.June 8, 2019 at 2:00 pm #2462073
Sitting for BEC on Monday, I find myself losing focus and feeling as if I'm over studying (what?). In reality I'm just so burned out. I've been studying non stop since September of last year. Passed FAR and REG, and I've had to really make myself focus for BEC. Keeping my fingers crossed to pass.
So plan for today is to: review note cards for COSO, IT, and Cap Budgeting. Do multiple sets of MCQs for them.
Tomorrow: Review note cards for ECON, Cost Accounting, do multiple sets of MCQs, review ninja notes, and rewrite formulas and at last take the AICPA practice exam to get a gist for the SIMs.June 8, 2019 at 4:45 pm #2462364
I'm here this weekend as well. I was supposed to be taking REG tomorrow, but I know I'm not ready. So, instead of wasting my time, money, and effort on a half-behind attempt…I decided to reschedule and go in there with a lot more confidence in my understanding of the material. @tncincy thanks for giving me the advice to do what you wished you had done.
Tonight, I'm not quite sure how I want to approach the material. But, I'm thinking I should approach it similarly to a retake after a fail. I believe it may make more sense to hit the start over. I have Roger, Becker and Ninja materials to take advantage of. Though, the NINJA Plus videos were really key in helping me identify some of the missing elements in those MCQs.June 8, 2019 at 6:15 pm #2462472
I am in need of a power weekend. Attempting to get Audit done beginning of July then get through my last two. What is everyone using as motivation? Happy studying all!June 9, 2019 at 10:15 am #2463666
Who else is powering through on this beautiful Sunday? I'm focused on one of my hard to grasp topics today…corporations. Happy studying, people.June 9, 2019 at 12:20 pm #2463801
@hopeful20 coffee lol
@born to win, goodluck! I spent an entire day on corps and then entire day on partnerships. These are the most important chapters in REG more than BLAW, Individual and whatever else in there.
Today is my last day of review before I sit for BEC. I'm feeling really nervous, as if the Wiley review wasn't enough. I've been kind of all over the place with my review. Goals of today include to at least review Ninja Notes, do the AICPA practice exam. Sims for key areas, review ratios/formulas.
