I have been using the CPAexcel software and I’m happy with it for the most part. They don’t rotate their answers or modify the questions so you memorize it on accident. I’ve been debating on if I need to purchase additional cram courses/materials. I’ve passed everything except AUD and I loose credit for REG in November. I took AUD last week and am waiting for the score.

I am wondering what other people’s experiences are regarding the different programs out there.

    CPAexcel

    Pros

    never expires

    small study topics

    Cons

Doesn’t rotate answers, easy to memorize questions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks,

    Taylor

I have been using exammatrix….seems to be working ok…. study sessions automatically generate based on types of questions you are weaker in. affordable, if you want to check out the website and see what its like

    AUD - 2/27/12 - 76
    REG - 5/31/12 - 78
    BEC - 8/31/12 - 77
    FAR - 12/6/12 - 76

ihatestudying – Exammatrix doesnt have videos.. you are basically reading from text and doing MC ??

@yellowboy….yes., there are no lecture videos…its basically a mcq, and sims, study program….however after each question there are links to info relating to that topic..definitions, and also links to the textbook section on that topic…its kind of a cool system…but if y ou are the type of person that needs lecture videos then it wouldnt be for you……i just needed a change of pace, and tried it, and its been working….. for the price, if someone needs a change of pace, its worth checking out. i think the website gives a tutorial video on it and shows how it works if anyone is interested.

    AUD - 2/27/12 - 76
    REG - 5/31/12 - 78
    BEC - 8/31/12 - 77
    FAR - 12/6/12 - 76

Wiley worked for AUD and BEC very well.

Wiley wasn't great IMHO as a study tool (notes) for REG. It was too much information.

I tried CPAExcel on the REG section retake, I probably failed but it wasn't CPAExcel's fault. Crazy stuff.

I actually didn't like Becker so I guess I am different than the majority on here. 🙂 I would suggest the Wiley test bank (from Jeff of course). I used Yaeger and liked the lectures. A little long but they work questions in the lectures which is more like a classroom/teaching style and fits my learning style better. Yaeger uses Wiley. And I just bought the CRAM from them for FAR and so far like it. They don't work the questions in the CRAM so it might be worth it buy the full course from them. Hoping you passed Audit but if not, they were great for Audit. The teacher was Gary Bulmash and while he is really dry, he knows his stuff and gives you all the tips, works the problems, etc to help you pass.

Hey I have used CPAexcel to pass BEC and AUD. I think one of the things that works for them is that their software is very close to the exam software. Using it to study really helps a person to get used to actual exam conditions. I also think that, WILEY online database of questions is a great tool to be used along with CPAexcel. And thanks to Jeff, you can get a good deal on it.

Speaking of REG. Since I am working on the section with CPA excel, I feel like there is so much disconnect with the printed materials vs the videos. The instructor does a good job, but the material seems all over the place.

    BECky - DONE
    AUDry - DONE
    REGgie - November 2012
    FARah- TBD

All the comments are really great – I will be purchasing my CPA review in NOV.

As of now – I'm leaning towards Roger CPA

I heard that the first half of the year passing rates are lower than the second half- is that true?

    Latex,

I found that there was a TON of stuff that was in the CPAExcel notes (important items) that wasn't tested in the CPAExcel MCQ's or SIMS. I hope that trying something new (other than Wiley) worked but I don't have a good feeling.

Much of what gave me fits wasn't covered in Wiley or CPAExcel to the level the exam tested. In fact, one SIM was on a topic that neither even mentioned…a very specific area of taxation.

    REG sucks.
