Roger Expired. New Course Suggestions?

My UWorld Roger CPA Review account recently expired. I am not sure if I should renew with him or try out another program. Has anyone used Roger before, made the switch and ended up passing? I was wondering if there are any good programs out there that offer a “Failed with your Course” discount or anything? Or will I just have to suck it up and pay the full amount for a new course review.

    Shaybird,

What is your overall impression of Rogers? Did you like it? hate it? One thing I noticed about studying for CPA exam is that not one size fit all. Most members on here, including myself using more than one review materials to study for the exams. Currently, I'm using Rogers (supplementing with NINJA MCQ), getting ready for BEC and REG in next few months. It expires in September 2017. Once it expires I would like to try Gliem. Gleim considers boot camp of CPA review course. Some people find it's overwhelming and intense but they felt good after walking out of Prometric Center. Good thing is that you don't have to purchase the whole package at once. You can purchase section at the different price level. At platinum level, the section doesn't expire. Same goes for Wiley.

It's important you understand why you failed before jumping into another review course. I have a trusted business associate who is the regional rep for Becker and she tells me all the time that over her decades of experience most people who fail don't prepare properly or set themselves up for failure by trying to do too much (i.e. working full-time and trying to rush through testing).

So, what is your story? Did you spend a significant amount of time studying? Did you follow a recommended schedule?

I picked Becker because I believe what I was taught in school about fair market value and what determines a fair price. In a nut shell, you get what you pay for. You can find 100 people who will tell you Becker sucks or that it's over-priced or they failed because of Becker, but generally, Becker gives you everything you need to prepare for and pass the test. You just need to properly prepare and sensibly plan out the time it will take to pass based on your capabilities. They have more resources and more experience than any other prep course. The price is worth it, in my opinion.

Fair disclosure – not a Roger user.

If you have the book from Roger (and are a book learner), I submit that if you go for Ninja MCQ, do at least 1200-1600 MCQ and the majority of TBS and get an 85 or so trending score – you can win FAR.

The Ninja Notes helped me for FAR too but I also took copious notes in Evernote and curated. NN provided a good cornerstone for all the other work.

    Cheers.

I agree with cpa1982 and M123. Adding other MCQs is the key. I used Wiley MCQ (FAR) and Ninja MCQ (REG) with Roger. Good luck!

im a roger user and ill qualify everything i am about to say by first saying that i agree the post previously that said it all depends on your study style.

That being said, roger is working great for me so far and I believe you can extend any given section with roger for 6 months for 50 bucks. If i dont pass my other two sections before my 18 month license with roger i am planning to just extend with him for that small price.

i also agree with another previous poster that its all about how much time you dedicate to the studying. worst thing you can do is rush it or take it lightly. i ended up “over studying” for the two sections ive taken so far but would much rather over study and take it too seriously than under-study and take it lightly.

Good luck with your decision and studies.

Did you exhaust the $50 per section 6 month extensions yet? I'm not sure of how far away you are in your studying but I was able to email their customer service after I used all my extensions and they gave me another slight extension for free. This was because REG was the last section I had to take and it was a few months away. If this is your situation, might be worth a shot.

Have you tried calling them and asking for an extension? They sometimes will give you a six months extension for a small fee of $50 and they have good prices for re-enrolling students. with that said, Rogers is not enough on its own. You will need to do ninja mcq questions with it. if you don't want to do that, becker is your best bet.

iput – i disagree with your opinion that roger alone is not enough. Roger works just fine if you follow the program and dedicate enough time to do all lectures read all books and work the IPQs.

If you are in a pinch and dont dedicate enough time to do all of the lectures and reading then sure, do as many MCQs as you can including supplementing with Ninja or wiley or whatever. But to say Roger alone is not enough isnt correct.

Hi All, Roger was nice enough to give me the 6 month extension for $50 even though you are supposed to extend it before your course expires. I am going to use Roger to study for AUD and then buy the Ninja MCQs for AUD as well. Thanks everyone for the help. HIYA!!!!
