    NINJA Question –

I have just started on my CPA journey. My goal is to take FAR in early September. I purchased the Roger CPA Review course and so far am pretty happy with the lecture content. I’ve also purchased the Ninja FAR MCQ test bank as a supplement. Right off the bat, I’ve noticed that the Ninja test bank is structured differently content-wise than Roger’s lectures and book. For example, Roger starts off with Conceptual Framework followed by Cash and then Cost vs Equity methods. The Ninja MCQ’s has the conceptual framework category, but there are subcategories of this that Roger won’t touch on until later in the course (like Governmental accounting) and some perhaps not at all (like SEC Reporting Requirements).

Does anyone have a study schedule of sorts that matches up Rogers lessons with the Ninja FAR categories? I want to be able to use the Ninja MCQs as I go through the lectures, but right now I’m pretty much guessing as to which categories would be ones that I’ve studied with Roger so far.

Hope this makes sense. Thanks for any help.

I passed FAR wth Roger with an 86. I barely used the ninja test bank. I know what you mean about the topics being different.

I'd say use one of the Roger schedules. If you feel like you've memorized the questions for his MCQ's, as opposed to knowing the material, switch to Ninja MCQ's for the final stages of review.

For example, if you know the answer to a question is B but you don't know why, that's a sign to switch test banks.

Make a spreadsheet to keep track of how many questions you do for each Roger section. Track how many questions and your scores over time. Be prepared to do at least 2000 to 3000 total questions, maybe more. I was getting scores in the 80's for all Roger sections before I took the exam.

    That's what worked for me.

    AUD - 81
    BEC - 84
    FAR - 86
    REG - 82
    Ethics - 78, 88, 94

Do.  Or not do. There is no try.

Roger was OK for FAR. After I finished it – and after working every single last practice question – I still felt unprepared, and I was unprepared. I will say this – after having used him for FAR and AUD, I do not like his textbooks and that's why I'm using Gleim for BEC and probably REG. So, I've lost money (or, paid more than I anticipated let's say.) Will probably purchase Ninja eventually if I can't pass on Try #2 in October.
As far as finding a study system….you have to find out what works for you personally.
Advice from people on here can be OK, but I'd say chances are that what worked for them won't work for you. No two people go through the process of taking these exams in the same way.
As far as using Roger's study guidelines or calendars or whatever, who knows. I never used them and still stayed on track although did push out my FAR exam by a month because I felt un-ready…I probably shoulda just taken it though. And, as far as trending scores – they are meaningless. I say this over and over to people. There are folks on this forum who never scored above a 50 on practice exams and still passed the real one.

    Best of wishes!!!
