Score report isn't in line with score

I took REG a few weeks ago and felt pretty good about it, so I was more than a little bit surprised to see a failing score of 71. Then I got more score report, that just adds to the confusion.

Said that I was weaker on one subject, comparable on 2, and stronger on 2. This resulted in an overall stronger on the MCQ. However, FOUR of my SIMS were on my two stronger subjects, so how in the world did I get a weaker on the SIMS?

    FAR 75
    BEC 81
    AUD 71, 84
    REG 69, 71, 83

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016
    AUD - TBD

That report is nonsense. It's just compared to everyone else who say, and the majority of people taking the test fail, so that report is garbage. Just get back in the book and get those 4 points next time. You can do it. Don't let those stupid reports bug you.

I got 72. Stronger in MCQ's and Weaker in SIMS. I know I did 2 SIMS correct. DRS and Research question – actually both are very easy.I filled it up some figures in the rest of the SIMS. Definitely I know I didn't do well in SIMS.

I keep asking this question on the boards, but now that I have a different audience in this thread I would like to get some of your opinions.

I took REG on 12/5, took a week off then briefly reviewed my notes. Took another 6 days, got my score, and started studying again the past 4 days. Would you all

    A) Schedule a retake on 1/9 (would allow me about three weeks to study)? or

    B) Put it down until 2/6 (crazy busy at work with no time to study). Pick it back up and schedule a retake in early March? Option B would give me about 4 weeks to study compared to the 3 in option A, but I would have put it down for over a month prior to starting my studies again.

I have to more shots at REG before I lose FAR, and I’m just deathly afraid of this Q2 exam format change, so I really need to get this thing done in Q1.

    FAR 75
    BEC 81
    AUD 71, 84
    REG 69, 71, 83

    FAR - 75 November 2015
    REG - 69 April 2016 (WTH? Test I got isn't what I studied for)
    BEC - 81 June 2016

@OP The report does make sense and very informative if used correctly. Make sure you are reading the whole report. The topics listed should only show how strong you were on MCQ only. Also, remember Sims account for 40% of exam so a score of 71 sounds reasonable to me.

I would go with A. Three weeks is plenty time to study, especially if you’ve taken it already.

I wonder if anyone has ever failed a section even though they got stronger or comparable on the SIMs.

@circadian malfunction, that is an excellent question! I was only weak on one area in my MCQ, stronger in three, and comparable in two. SIMS I was weaker while MCQ I was stronger, anyone have an answer for this question?

@cwlanders Interesting. You did almost pass though. I swear reading this forum the past few months seems like most that fail an exam get comparable on MCQs and weaker on the SIMs. A few get weaker on both.

    A) Depends, do you think 3 weeks of study is ENOUGH? When you went in this quarter, were you doubtful or were you ready?

    B) Same question almost, will 4 weeks be sufficient? I would opt for this option only because it gives you MORE time. When I studied for a retake, I always studied for as if it was a new exam. For FAR, it was a glorified review. But for REG, it was completely new exam to me because I didn't really study for it the first time. Regardless both times, I required at least 6 weeks of study but these are trying times. I would definitely try to knock them out in Q1.

    Good luck.

If you read the report it explicitly says

“The performance display below shows your performance in each of the Content Areas of the Examination and your Overall Performance by item type. Your performance in each content area is based on the multiple choice items only

It means you probably didn't do as well as you thought on the sims.

    @circadian malfunction

I don't think I've ever heard of that happening, but if there are people like that they are probably very excited for the 2017 changes lol

I scored a 71 on FAR in November with weaker MCQ's and stronger SIMs. Every test I've taken I've scored stronger in SIM's and either weaker or comparable in MC's, but I passed all the others with those kinds of stats – FAR is the only one I've failed.

I've worked in industry for 17 years. I imagine the work experience is a benefit.
