Based on NASBA webinar what I understood is that scratch paper and pencil is allowed in exam but you have to ask for it.I got confused though because they mentioned advisability ,accommodation etc same breath .Is paper and pencil can be asked in Prometric ?
Anyone else noticed this disclosure ?

You get a pair of laminated papers (checkered on the front, blank on the back) and dry erase markers. You're not suppose to erase anything – if you need more “scratch” paper, the'll provide you with another set. Should be the same procedure nationally because people testing for other tests at the testing center received different scratch materials (e.g. notebook).

Just got this email confirmation from Nasba.I had asked if it's allowed and second question was is it for all or only for disable candidates ?
    ****

Yes, you can contact candidatecare@nasba.org and request paper and pencil for the exam.
The paper would be given to you by the security staff and it would not be able to leave the testing area. You do not have to be disabled to request paper and pencil.

thanks for letting us know. I'd much rather have paper than the laminate boards. I'm always scared I'm going to wipe my work my accident.

I guess I am “that guy” because I always erased what I didn't need during the exam with my finger. It was quicker that way.

It will be a huge help to me as not comfortable in writing on glasses.I am used to writing on normal paper or laptop. In exam I struggle to write on laminated paper.Actually I have not heard any of my friends who writes on laminated paper .Security is okay but please don't make me guinea pig due to CPA exam security.

I can't wait to be done with these exams and not have to worry about these rules.

I plan to request the paper and pencil.
My nearest prometric center is not the “latest and greatest”. I have not visited since 2013/2014 for the EA exam, but I can only imagine how horrible the markers would be.
I think I might need to take notes for the sims due to the overwhelming amount of information being throw at you.

Prometric will give you a laminate board and 2 dry-erase markers. You may request a calculator if you do not like using the one provided on the testing computer.

They'll give you paper and pencils. The laminated sheets (which they call “white boards”, although they are usually pink or yellow) are what they give everyone by default. They should not have those goofy gridlines on them though, because unless I'm mistaken, there are no questions on any of the exams asking you to graph functions or plot points in order to determine possible relationships between variables.

They also give calculators which do work although they look like they're from another time, and they also give really uncomfy noise-cancelling headphones (take both, you will need them.)

@crazyleon Instead of using the noise-cancelling headphones, I take a pair of the squishy ear plugs. I have to throw them away after the exam, but they are so much better than the headphones.

I'd rather paper and pencil. I think I'm going to request it on my next test date. I am good at ignoring the loud typing and people coughing out of control so I'll pass on the head phones. Definitely asking for paper and pencil. Those laminated sheets are very annoying and most time is not clean or so oily the pen won't write.

Email sent with name, time and date of exam. Awaiting follow up requesting any additional info required.
I requested paper, pen/pencil, and handheld calculator.
Not sure if that's required, but when I did the EA exam prometric people were being stingy with the calculators and the 10-key on the keyboard did not work. (WTF)

I almost smudged out my launch code when I was taking mine. I hate those boards with the really fat markers.

HEADS UP! you need to request paper and pencil 2 weeks before your exam date!

NASBA confirmed I do not need advance notice for a calculator, I just need to request one at the test site.
Better safe than sorry. Really hoping they will be able to arrange the paper and pencil in time…
