Seriously hate studying for BEC

Been studying for this exam since the middle of July. Failed it at the end of August with a 73 and hopefully taking it for the third and last time in 2 weeks. I have no motivation to study for this test anymore and can’t seem to concentrate when I sit down. I don’t know what it is, but my mind just seems to shut down when I try and get into it. I feel like I’m all over the place and don’t know where to start or what I should be focusing on.

Anyone ever had this happen and what did you do to snap out of it?

Yeah, I'm struggling something terrible this window as well. The energy I had last window has been zapped by two (possibly three fails), one bomb, one 74. I still have my materials open, but I'm just mindlessly reading through them and completing multiple choice questions with 0 enthusiasm. This test sucks man.

All over the place? I keep switching from Far to Reg, Reg to Far, Gleim to Becker, Becker to Ninja, Ninja to Wiley. After tonight, lets make things interesting and add BEC to the party. I haven't even mustered enough courage to cough up the $20 per section for the application process. I'm so lost!

I feel like I'm in debt with the wrong people after making a bad bet!

RE2PECT right there with you- and it really has hit me hard today- I just keep staring at my computer screen and not getting anything done and have no motivation to get anything done. I also feel like I am not “learning anything new”- I am just spinning my wheels and reinforcing everything I knew well last time without picking up any more new information on the things that I probably missed (like IT– I might as well be reading the material in Chinese for all the sense it makes to me). I honestly have no idea how to refocus or how to get my brain to process the information it clearly has a mental block against…

lol @mtaylo24 “I feel like I’m in debt with the wrong people after making a bad bet!” SAME!!! And I am also waiting on a failing score tonight (AUD) which just means I am going to owe even more money to the goon squad…

And they ask me why I drink

    FAR 61, 69, 83

This is so relatable. Though not studying for BEC. But I am restudying for FAR (Hate it)! I also cant seem to focus for this section. Not sure if its because I have been at this process for too long or what lol. But studying has been rough on top of personal matters. mtaylo24, I know right I went from few hundred bucks on CC to over a thousand just for these dang retakes. Really need a second Win this Quarter! Good Luck All.

    BEC - 76
    REG- 67, 85
    AUD-63, 74, 80!!
    FAR-65, 62, 57, 79

3 down 1 more to go. BEC is on the Line 🙁

It's a bad feeling and I need to snap out of it asap with only 2 weeks left till my exam. I've been doing the same thing as you Mytalo with the switching of review materials. My first two attempts I used Roger and Ninja and this time I've been throwing in some mcq's from a 2014 Wiley book. I feel like I never even studied for this exam after seeing some of the questions in there on things I've never heard of. Not sure if I should keep doing questions from the book or switch back to Ninja and Roger. Kind of wish I just moved on to REG, but figured it made sense to take it again since the material is still fresh.

@Spartans92- I've been basically studying nonstop since December with a couple of week or two breaks between score releases. I'm not sure how much more I can keep up this pace before I'm totally burnt out. I've got 7 month old at home who's starting to become more active and require more attention. I wish I could focus more time and energy towards him and not worry about how many hours I'm going to be able to study. I took the day off from studying on Saturday and felt guilty that I didn't do anything.

@mckan514w- Good luck on your AUD score! I thought for sure I failed my retake and ended up with an 81. You got this!

I started writing stuff down the old fashioned way.

My mom keeps texting me and driving me nuts with her study suggestions. She works with children that have disabilities and have trouble paying attention and retaining information. She keeps trying to push her work crap off on me! :-p

    “try singing the material”
“write things down with your pencil”
“chew different flavors of gum for different portions of the material and then chew the same gum during the test”

haha. My cats are getting tired of me singing COSO to them and my hand is killing me from writing so much stuff the old fashioned way.

I'm not sure if I buy into the whole gum thing and I don't know if we're even allowed to bring gum into the testing center–so I haven't gone that far yet!

@RE2PECT AUD is seriously one of those that I will be more shocked to pass than fail- for a multitude of reasons I had to push my BEC test back to August (and I still failed the F_KER) which only left me with a 15 day study window for AUD- only reason I even sat for it was the NTS was expiring and I thought “can't hurt” so I am almost certain of a fail tonight / this morning.

@Trees202- ha ha ha ha I actually dreamed last night that I had a blister that took up the entire span of my hand from writing BEC notes over and over — it was horrible and I was so happy when I woke up until I realize that since the blister was not real I was forced to spend another day writing non stop….

I understand! It took me 3 tries with BEC. I got 73, 71, and then 77 in August. You can do it! I am running out of energy for the others, but I know I can't give up! One tip I would suggest from my 3 attempts is to make sure you don't skip out on IT. We are all in this together and this forum has helped me tremendously. I don't have any children yet, so major props to you and the parents studying! I couldn't imagine the stress you all have.

@Trees202- I read that if you chew peppermint gum it helps boost your memory. I used it for my AUD retake and ended up passing, but when I tried it for BEC it obviously didn't work.

@iamonloose- Let us know how you did. Good luck!

re2spect – can I buy that gum in bulk on amazon? lol Waiting on my results for BEC .. I failed AUD 3x and have not passed one section yet since beginning to study back in January. The last grades I got for AUD was a 71 then a 74. No motivation but here I am reading on this forum trying to find the WONDERFUL MAGICAL wording that will somehow make me grasp what I've been missing and how its made others pass. The gum must be it.. I'm trying that next 😉 Good luck and dont give up, we are all right there with ya friend.

Pokey – Hang in there! I studied for a little over a year straight before I passed my first one. I was getting in the 70's similar to you. You will figure out the correct study method, sometimes it just takes longer than others. Don't give up!

Re2spect – Okay, I have a good feeling about your next attempt! I feel like I'm similar to you, I failed BEC with a 71 in Feb, and then a 73 in May. Just found out tonight I got a 79 and I am beyond ecstatic because I seriously hated studying for that too. The amount of randomness that can get thrown at you is just garbage! For my two failures I did pretty much Ninja MCQ only with the notes and supplementing with a 2013 Becker textbook. This time around I bought The Wiley 2015 Study Guide off of Ebay and I did all those MCQs. Except I did them with the answers right next to me, so it wasn't too time consuming, but I believe it is what pushed me over the edge. They are similar to ninja but a couple of the explanations just clicked with me more. After each chapter I would do the corresponding one in Ninja. I only got through about 1100 Ninja MCQs, and I do believe you need two different test banks for this stupid test.

I studied for my final attempt for about three weeks. Similar to you, I could barely focus because I felt like I had memorized the damn thing. It's cheesy, but I wrote a notecard (in the middle of my other BEC flashcards) titled “December 2016” (when I hope to be done) and then on the back all the reasons why my life will get way better when I pass the exam and am finally done. Hang in there you got this!

    AUD - 79
    BEC - 79

I still can't believe this is real.

@Pokey- At this point we will try anything if it means we'll pass lol. Not sure if it will help, but I'll share how I studied for my AUD retake. I read through the Ninja book and then after each section I'd do all the Ninja mcq's. The good thing about the book is that it follows along with the mcq's perfectly. I didn't take any notes or rewrite the Ninja notes like I did for the first attempt. After going through all the Ninja mcq's I started practicing sims on Ninja and Roger. The weekend before the exam I skimmed through Roger's book and read the Ninja notes a couple times. I had some really tough sims on the exam, but was able to pull off an 81.

@Mytalo24- Really sorry to hear that. Keep at it! You seem to have the determination to keep going and that means a lot.

@Tardis_Wobble- Congrats on your score! So jealous! lol I haven't been doing so great on the Wiley mcq's, but I guess it's a good thing since I'm seeing different material that's not in Roger or Ninja's material. Some of the questions specify if they were CMA or CIA adapted so it's good to see something different. Did you go back and read through the books again or was it strictly mcq's for your retake? Did you do anything different for the WC? I was weaker on both attempts and I'm really mad at myself because I would have passed had I had a better gameplan for them.

@mckan514w- How did you do on AUD? I have a feeling you passed!
