Shocking FAR fail-seeking advice from those who retook and passed

Some of you may have seen me here…This was meant to be my last one. I don’t know if it was the burnout, or a crappy test (gov’t accounting heavy) but I scored a 69….I know I am not the first for this to happen to, but looking for advice and have some questions:
    1. How soon can I apply for an NTS?
    2. How much time do I need to study for a retake? (I was thinking start studying now/right after holidays)-take in mid-February…
    3. I plan on focusing on MCQ, especially in Ninja-feel like I didn’t give Ninja as much time as I have with the other sections.
    4. Practice Ninja SIMS-I normally do them all, I did none of them this time-lack of time, and felt super confident in Becker.

I did look at the blueprint, and will look at it again….

@anyatver I have already begun the application process in my state to get my NTS for BEC retake. I am waiting on my state to send the info to NASBA to pay their fees to get my NTS…not sure what the process looks like in your state, but I know on the NASBA site it says it could be up to 48 hours before it can be done. Maybe someone else will have more info on that process.

I plan to start again right now (especially since I took the last 2 weeks off) and I am planning to take around January 20, or as close before that date as I can get. I don't want to worry about it when busy season really gets going, and I want to be able to get my score soon. I figure another month will help me solidify concepts I need.

I used Ninja MCQ for my rematch with FAR last window and felt very prepared when I was taking the exam. I was not surprised by any of the questions. I think Ninja prepares you well.

I never do practice SIMs except for those on the AICPA practice exam, so I'm no help there.

    Good luck!

My advice- do the Becker sims and the NINJA MCQs. Unless the NINJA sims have changed recently, they are not enough to get you through the actual FAR exam. Wiley also has great sims for practice.

    Advice for FAR:

      Cross-train. Cross-train.

I had to take it a second time and was gearing up for a 3rd.
My primary was Wiley, and it is phonebook thick. The testbank is 1500+ and good for much of the main body of FIN.
Criticism: Too much info and poorly written. Sometimes a minor sentence buried in 3 paragraphs would be key to the understanding.
The GOVT and NPO sections kinda sucked.

Using Becker for GOVT and using NINJA MCQ doing every GOVT and NPO question helped.
Tacking it on to 2 solid passes through WILEY, I think that added +10-15 pts to my score after nearly three months and about +200-225hours.

    -Yes it's Ne'O.
