Hello NINJAs,

I have a general question for anyone who has moved between states while licensed. I am a licensed CPA in my home state. As I completed my initial license I moved to another state and then started a job in private accounting. I now live and work in a state other than my state of license, BUT as I am no longer in public accounting, do I need to apply for reciprocity?

I have done a ton of research and genuinely don’t know what my obligations are after scouring my new states Board of Accountancy website (CO). Is this a no brainer to anyone? If I’m not doing public accounting why apply for reciprocity?. Should I designate which state I am licensed in in my email signature and stuff? Help!

If you are not in public anymore, unless your current job still requires it, I would not bother applying for reciprocity..

I am in the same situation-licensed in A state and work in B state. Only once I was asked to apply for reciprocity when I interviewed for a internal auditor position. Other than that, no one ever asked.

I currently work in FP&A, and I do not put CPA after my name in email signature since I feel it's a little too pretentious (No one eles in my current team is a CPA), but I still put CPA in my LinkedIn.
