State tax filing

Hi. I passed all four parts in 2016, I have the necessary education, and my experience requirement is almost finished. However, I stupidly didn’t file my TY 2014 New York State Income Tax Return. It would have been a small refund, but still it is unfiled. Is this something I will need to complete before applying for my license?

I looked at the documents provided by the NYS Public Accountancy office, and there is nothing specifically written about it. The only thing that may qualify is the “be of good moral character” requirement.

If I were you I'd file the return and take the late filing penalty. A small penalty isn't worth possibly losing your license over.
