….you can’t be going for too long, but if you’re don’t spend enough time, you don’t accomplish what you need to!

Now that I have your attention, quick poll. How long did you study for FAR and were you successful?

Sorry if the title was lewd, but I figured I’d get more clicks this way, ha ha.

This will vary so much from person to person, and the women will likely have to be going at it for much longer than the men – wait, are we talking about studying for FAR or sex again? Oh geez…

I was at 150-160 hours. FAR was always my nemesis though. The one section I took over and over and over again. The one section that caused me to lose my “condition” status not once, but twice.

I studied for 120+ hours and was not successful.

I then studied for another 120+ hours and was not successful

I then studied for about 120 hours and then I was successful.

I however have not ever had sex for 120 hours straight.

That's because Bill has brass balls. Those always require more time to polish.

I think I logged 22 hours on NINJA, 35 hours on the Becker lectures, and probably another 35 on Becker MCQ/Practice Exam.

92 hours I guess? Round it up to 100.

How long in terms of months? I studied for 5 1/2 months and I think that was too long. You lose some of your short term memory. I failed.

Tripp11, thanks for making me laugh! Rough day, it was much needed!

My employer is fantastic, and let me take off 14 days at a time and I would study straight for each part. I'm not sure how much more time I would have needed if I had to spread 150 hours over several months, because I agree, one would seem to lose a good portion of what you learned over that long of a time span.

BTW, I can totally relate to losing your past credits. Back when I originally took the exam, you took all four parts at the same time over two consecutive days, I passed three parts TWICE but could never get FAR out of the way, and I gave up. 10 years later, I started all over again and promised myself, I would give up EVERYTHING to pass.

A little under 8 weeks, so slightly less than 2 months. I thought it was more than enough time, personally.

I'm asking because I plan to start re-studying tomorrow (after failing with a 74 and taking a month off to study for another section) and taking the exam in Mid-April. This gives me 6 weeks. Not sure if this is enough time.

    Maddie:

Just curious how you like CPAExcel. Pros? Cons?

What do they call an accounting person, who only managed a 75 on all four parts of the CPA exam....you got it, CPA!!!

How are some of you scoring in the 90's on your exam on the first try? What are you using ??

One day I will face that exam.

Far is like having sex and not being able to finish cause you got less than a 75, but once you get that passing score after many tries, you experience the best orgasm ever.

    @Excel14

Pros: I love CPAExcel and if I could do it over again, I'd still go with CPAExcel!

-Price: I dont work in public accounting so I paid for my own review course. If you buy a review course within 90 days of graduating (and submit your transcript) they used to give a discount. I paid $1,100-$1,200.

-So Many MCQs!: I never felt like I didn't have enough. They also have a mobile app where you can study MCQs or flash cards whenever you have a few minutes here or there.

-You pay once for your course and you have it until you pass! If you want print copies of materials, you do need to pay for new materials, but everything is online.

-They have an offline version, which is helpful if you travel a lot.

    -Tech support is fantastic

Con: Why the eff can't I pass FAR?

I loved CPA Excel as well for whatever it's worth. If I didn't have babies keeping me up all night I think I would have passed all on my first try with it, or if I had used it right out of college.
