Suggestions for REG 4th take

Long story short, my first three REG scores are 63, 61 (while working), and most recently a 68.

Yes, the 68 does provide some indication of improvement for when I go in for my 4th attempt. My main issue is the study approach. When doing Becker MCQ my brain quickly gets bored because of the repetitiveness of the material, and so I’ve been incorporating Ninja MCQ to try and mix things up.

I have not been able to establish a consistent routine and I wanted to hear from others about how they would approach my situation, if they would use Becker and start from scratch, since you never want to leave anything out, even if you already know it, or if they would use the MCQ in Becker/Ninja as a starting point to determine what to study (from questions they got wrong).

I suggest you get the concepts right and understood first. You did not mention how you studied, but what I did was I listened to the entire lectures twice. First time while studying through chapters while taking thorough notes, then second time right 1 week before the exam, I rewatch them all again. Second time will be much quicker, it is just to remind you.

Then a few days before, do the practice questions. If you dont understand the concept, just doing mcq repeatedly is meaningless. You probably understand tiny little area that the question covers in the explanation. But if the question slightly changes, you won't get it.

By the way, I only used Roger with no supplement.

Long story short, study and understand the big picture.

    Good luck!

Working full-time and taking all 4 parts in one window.

If I can do it, you all can too.

Re-watching the lectures one more time before the exam is such a great idea.

As for my method of studying, I primarily used Becker, I would watch lectures and do the related MCQ, marking questions I got wrong, and coming back to them later. I definitely could do a better job mastering the concepts, now that you mention it. Your point about modifying the question slightly is absolutely on the money.

    Thanks for your advice!

For REG, I would listen to the lectures, then do MCQ and SIMS related to the module, then go through the book and take notes, make flashcards, etc. It does sound like there might be holes in your knowledge conceptually. Ninja MCQ should help to diagnose that. I would also make sure you do all new questions in Ninja first, then do missed last time seen, and only then mix it up and do random sets during your review…. Good luck!

I usually wait to do the simulations once I've gotten through all modules, but I like that idea of knocking them out with the mcq for specific modules.

    Thank you!
