I would like to know if there is anyone out there with sweaty hands (palmar hyperhidrosis)- a CPA with sweaty hands? How do you deal with shaking your clients hands or how do you deal with this disorder in general?

I had this issue since I was young and currently I am getting botox injections. It has improved my condition about 80%, but I have to do it every 3 months.

Waiting for the 8/22 score release makes my hands sweat even more.

It would be great to meet others who are not nurses, but CPAs. Thank you in advance.

Just like deodorant… a hand spray will solve the problem when you know you need to attend important situation. You will just need to spray and wash often. Handkerchiefs are good to use on daily practice when you go to regular meetings. I will also wear clothing that I can kinda wipe my hands on my pants / dress in case needed. I always stand in a position either my hands in front crossing, back crossing, or by the side.

Although we should always shake hands, there are actually situation where it is not necessary. If you do run into a situation, you can simply apologize professional saying you cannot shake because you are “holding too much paperwork”, “hands not clean”, “religious purpose”, etc. Unless you are standing and greeting a client, you can also reroute by “offering them seats”, “giving them a name card with TWO HANDS”, etc.

Frankly speaking, unless I am the team leader (or the big boss), unless my client initiate a shake first, otherwise I don't shake.

Lara, I had the same issue as you. Luckily, I had surgery for it in San Antonio, Tx. My hands dont sweat anymore.

I don't have the sweaty hands, but I think my feet sweat more than average.
They don't stink or anything, but I usually go shoe-less in the office, and wear birkenstocks during the summer.
Botox seems to be the short term solution, so I would probably stick with that over surgery, but it does interest me.

Similar to when a teenage boy reaches out to shake my hand…
    *looks at hand*
    I'm not touching that thing!!

Recked, I'd rather have sweaty feet even if I can't wear heels- birkenstocks are perfect. The injections hurt a lot. I had to hold my breath to manage. The upside is I learned to hold my breath longer, which is very useful when I am at the Prometric center. Now I know that surgery works (lucky/blessed Caritus14), I am considering to go that route.

There is a new lotion out, I saw the commercials on TV.
It's called Carpe. You might want to check that out before you get surgery.
I always prefer the least invasive remedy over surgery.

I have tried Carpe. Unfortunately, it did not work for me. Thank you, Recked.
