TEST BANK for REG

    Hey guys,
I was just curious to know others experience regarding test banks for REG. I kind of get an idea that all providers more or less have the same MCQs (which is pretty obvious because they are all covering the same concepts that are outlined in the blueprints, just that some are with varying degrees of complexities involved and are detailed, etc.)

My question is if you have solved all questions in the test bank, how closely have you found your test banks representing the exam questions?
Gleim has about 3020 MCQs in REG! And some questions are way too detailed and complex and I wonder if these are ever tested. While I really like the book, I would like to know how has Gleim test bank translated into scores for others.

I did all of the MC in Becker for each of the 4 sections.
Overall- I felt Becker was a pretty good representative of the questions asked on the real exam. I would say between 5-10% of the questions on Becker were something crazy that might take 5 different steps and 10 minutes to answer for a MC. I did not encounter any of these on the real exam (Sims were a different story- there are some beasts out there).

I do feel that the real exams are scaled/curved in a way that allow you to score better than % correct, depending on what level difficulty testlets you get.

@Chandler, thanks for replying. I am right now on a MCQ marathon, trying to complete it all before my exam on Nov 8.
Your scores are AMAZING! Never seen a 98 on REG!
Any suggestions/ advice from you would be great.
    Thanks!

    Thank you!
REG was my first exam, so I definitely over-studied some. It was also my strongest area- I work as a tax associate, and I probably took close to 30 hours in college of tax. It sounds like you are preparing well for the exam. For me I found MC was the most helpful. I didn't study any Sims really on the last two exams. If you understand not only which choice is right, but WHY it is right, you should have no problem applying this knowledge on the SIMs. Good luck!

I have a the same question on the Gleim Reg test bank.

I wonder if it makes sense to do 50-75% of the 3K+ Gleim questions vs 100% of the Wiley questions (only around 1,300 questions).

The Gleim questions do seem significantly harder and more time consuming.

In my opinion, Gleim is overkill for REG. Their test bank contains questions from the Enrolled agent exam (which is well beyond the scope of the CPA exam). If I were you, I would purchase the NINJA monthly materials to supplement your other review course. While I didn't pass REG, I was impressed with the software itself and liked the real-time feedback of it. FYI – I used it to supplement Becker, as the questions were becoming too familiar.

How many MCQ are available in Ninja? I am looking for something comprehensive but don't need the fluff of items that will not be covered on the exam.

I view Gleim as a double edged sword for the various reasons mentioned above

    REG - 93 90% Gleim MCQ/book + 10% Wiley MCQ

    BEC - 79 100% Wiley MCQ/book

    FAR - 88 100% Gleim MCQ/book + Ninja Audios

I am currently spending around 3-4 hours a day to go through all of the Gleim questions so that I will have enough time to review all the ones I missed (scoring around 50-70% in a given practice exam). This is in additional to working a full time job. Yes, this is slowly killing me lol…..

You don't need to do all the multiple choice questions in Gleim, because alot of the questions are the same they just change the numbers around. Best to answer all the concept questions and do about 20% of the math questions. But keep up the good work Phil, the hard work pays off in the end.

    @Operations_CPA.
Wow! Seems that Gleim is an.overkill for REG because of the unnecessary questions of EA. Is it also overkill for FAR do you think? What I don't see a popular option and that candidates don't talk about.much which I am going to be doing is A la carte. Sure that it will be more money spent at the end, but its also strategic. Like, I wouldnt do Gleim for REG as the main course or supplement as an example, but may roll the dice with another of the exams.

@Phil, not sure if you are still looking for a suggestion on the test bank, but here is what I did.
So I too wondered whether solving all the questions will really help or not. I did about 2400 MCQs from the study session, this is leaving aside the 400 odd questions in the book and the questions you do in practice test for every chapter to get it marked as completed.
I first started with all those chapters I thought I needed to master and then I did specific topics in other chapters. Eventually, I ended up doing almost all questions from chapters 1-16 and very few of business law (Chapter 17-20), reason being that the questions are insanely long and most of the questions in BLAW are situations worded differently. So you need to know the concept well, which can be done by reviewing the notes/ book.
Solving a lot of MCQs just help you cement up the concepts better and they get drilled in you.
If you do not have much time, I would suggest just pick up chapters that you or Gleim's software thinks to be your weaker area, select them all in study session mode (so that you know the answer immediately), choose unique questions in the filter and do them in sets of 38 questions.

I just took my exam so I guess we'll see how it went.

I ended up completing 2,600 out of the 3,020 questions.

Overall, I felt pretty comfortable during the exam and only had a few questions that completely caught me off guard. As expected there were quite a few where there there were a few good answers and/or I was not 100% prepared on the concept.
