Texas work experience- Former employer

Does anyone here have experience using “work experience” from a former employer to satisfy Texas requirements?

I interned at a different firm than I than I am currently employed. (Long story involving a merger). I would like to use the approximately 400 hours I acquired last spring towards the 2,000 hour requirement as well as starting the 12-month clock. While they expected me to return, the former partners still respect me and my decision, so it shouldn’t be a problem to have them sign off on everything. But this is my question- should I wait until after June for score releases on my final two exams? (I anticipate passing without any issues). Should I request it now? Should I wait until approximately September when I will have the remaining hours from my current employer? I thought it might be easier if I submitted both forms at the same time. However, if it doesn’t make a difference I would like to get the former employer’s form and stuff out of the way.

    Thanks!

Hey Chandler! I used my former employer and got my license with no issues. A little bit of a background, I had racked up the required year under my former employer but left and started a new job late last year. Passed the exam in March so I reached out and got the signed paperwork since I didn't want to wait the full year under my new employer before submitting my application. Long story short – I guess if you are in a time crunch, I recommend asking for your work forms now so that whenever you pass the final test all you would have to do is fill out the form and send it off. If you are not in any sort of hurry then either way would work. Hope that helps!

Keep going and never give up! 🙂

Ok thanks @get_away06! I think I am going to wait until after the score release, just to be 100% sure I passed and then ask. That still leaves me a little over two months until I hit the remaining experience here. Not in a huge rush, I just need to get it done before next tax season.

    Thanks again!
