I’m on my third dance with Far and if I pass I’ll be done with the exams. The first time I took it I felt terrible and got a 74, the next time I took it I felt semi decent and got a 72. This time I feel good about it and that’s making me worried so now I’m convincing myself I failed because I feel good.. So we will see on the 19th.

I took FAR on Aug 31st.
I thought my mcqs were not bad but my sims were horrible because I left many questions blank in the last testlet.
I was pretty sure I would fail but ended up passing with a 79.

I am right there with you. Took FAR last Sunday and was blown away. I guess it's not called “The Beast” for no reason. Hang in there.. just one more week!! Good luck!!

I am like the above response. I did really well on the MCQs, but not so well on SIMs. I didn't feel confident on any of the questions on SIMs, it was almost like I took educated guesses everywhere on the SIMs. I thought I failed and was getting ready for a retake, but ended up passing with 80.

I felt like the mcq were very similar to Becker but the sims left me ???!!!?!?! Puzzled. I pretty much skipped 2 sims and came back with a 78.

I took FAR 7/24, it was my very first exam I've ever sat for. I was rattled right out the gate MCQs were killing me. On the second testlet the questions were WAY easier which sent me into panic mode, figured since the questions got so much easier I must have bombed the first testlet badly! SIMS, also brutal. I'm using Gleim and feel their SIMS are fairly similar to the actual exam but felt like I was losing on SIMS too. After the exam I called my wife and said, well I'll be taking that again. Scores released and I got a 76! Not pretty but I'll take it. There is hope! Currently, waiting for AUD score on 9/19.

I took FAR in July and I left the exam thinking I had completely bombed it. The MCQS felt good, but the SIMS, I left one blank and didn’t feel confident about any of the others. When I saw I got an 86 I was completely shocked.

    AUD - 71 (Q3 2018), 85 (Q4, 2018)

    BEC - 88 (Q4, 2018)

    FAR - 86 (Q3 2018)

    REG - 85 (Q1 2019)

Has anyone ever felt better on the Sims than the MCQ and still managed to pass? This is my 2nd time and both times the Sims feel easy compared to the MCQ. The problem is last time I got a 70 :/

I took FAR at the end of Q2 this year and thought I failed for sure. I knew FAR SIMs were just absolute beasts so my strategy going into the exam was to blow through the MCQs and to make sure I had the minimum of 2.5 hours to attempt the sims. Of course during the exam things didn't turn out as planned because I ended up with a bunch of long MCQs with calculations and some that just took forever to read and process. I flagged maybe 5-6 questions in each of the MCQ testlets as well. When I got to the SIMs I was very confident on the first TBS teslet. They were just as I expected, like a million cells to fill, exhibits A-Z and like 5 emails and etc. But I finished filling in everything, checked my work and submitted the testlet. The 2nd TBS set was when I started running out of time and began to rush. I looked through all the TBS and started with the one I knew I could attempt best and fastest at. I pretty much guessed on the last one but still filled all the cells and submitted the 2nd TBS testlet. On the 3rd TBS teslet I ran out of time, I got to about half way through the first SIM before I ran out of time. So I ended the exam flagging at least 10 MCQs + leaving 2.5 SIMs completely blank. Passed with a 79. Boy was that a pleasant surprise. Like many others have said, sometimes you just don't know with these exams, but there's always hope.

@Mike – that kind of frustrates me, haha! I usually have plenty of time left and always feel decently confident on the sims and 50/50 on the MCQ. I've never left anything blank on any of the exams I've taken. It only frustrates me because it does start to feel like a lottery system of what topics you get tested on and which questions are the ones thrown out, etc…

Every test I really do feel like it could go completely either way which is stressful. Hopefully the CPA gods will be merciful to me.

@EMeRGeD – Totally with you on that. I had to take FAR 3 times, the prior two I had scored a 67 and 70. The one I scored a 70 on I actually felt pretty solid on. Flagged maybe only 1 or 2 MCQs, finished all of the TBS except for the very last one which I left blank and boom, 70. So you are right, it's just nearly impossible to tell sometimes. But persistence and determination! You will get there buddy, we will see you at the finish line soon.

I took FAR on July 2nd (Q3). My boyfriend picked me up from Prometric, and I was crying in the fetal position the whole way home. I felt good about…2 SIMS. I was actively planning my retake. I got an 80. There is hope!
