Time Crunch in Audit

I just took my audit exam, and ended up having a major time crunch at the end. I had to almost totally guess on the last TBS. I felt ok (not great) about it up until the last module, and I feel like the time crunch is really going to hurt my score.

I finished the first set of multiple choice questions 15 minutes ahead of schedule. The next set were harder (which is good) so it took me longer and after the third module I was about 10 minutes behind schedule, which ended up biting me in the end. When I took my REG exam I rushed through the third module in order to stay on schedule, but then ended up completing the entire exam 10 minutes early so I regretted rushing through the third module. Time management is difficult when you can’t see what kind of problems you have ahead of you.

Is it normal to have a time crunch on the audit exam? Has anyone passed an exam when they guessed at the last TBS?

I was hoping this would be my last exam and I was planning on celebrating tonight, but I almost wonder if I should start studying for a retake now. =/

I ended up finishing my second AUD exam about 20 minutes early, but that's because, like you said, time management is so hard when you can't see what's coming. I was on track and then my last testlet just happened to be the easiest of the three TBS testlets. Not the same exam so I'm not how comforting this will be to you, but the second time I took FAR I went right down to the wire and was absolutely clueless on one TBS. I was literally just plugging random numbers in, and it worked out just fine. Bottom line is you really have no clue until you get your score back.

When do you find out your score? And are you running into any potential issues with losing an exam to the 18 month window? If you have no worries about the 18 month rule and you'll find out your score soon, I would take a mental break and not study for a retake. If you have to wait a long time for your score to be released, or you're getting close to that 18 months, I would keep studying for a potential retake. Good luck, I hope it turns out well for you!

@Lucy15 I get my score back on March 8, which is fortunately only about 3 weeks away. I'm not currently in any trouble with the 18 month window, so that's good. I am taking a break for now and will make a decision on what to do when I get my score back. If I do have to retake it, I will have to wait until almost July to get my scores back! That is ridiculous; they've already been delaying the score releases throughout 2017, I don't see why they have to keep doing it through 2018…

I am really hoping the TBS that I guessed on was the ungraded pretest question. Given that there was only 1 research question, that means that 1 of the other 7 TBS questions was a pretest question, meaning that there is only a 14.29% chance that it was a pretest. Not good odds, but there's a chance.

Otherwise, it would be worth about 7.14 actual points on my score assuming all of the TBS questions are weighted equally. That means that if my weighted average score on the other problems was an 83 or so, then I can still get to the 75 mark. This is going to be a close one. I need to somehow take my mind off of it until the scores come out in March!

I'm pretty sure the questions are not all weighted equally. They weight questions based on difficulty so it's nearly impossible to estimate your likelihood of a specific score on any one section. Just relax. I was 80% sure I failed FAR, you never know.
