HOLY. HELL.

I just took BEC this evening and got my ass handed to me.
I was fairly confident after FAR and AUD and got an 85 and 84 respectively but I will be utterly shocked if I pass BEC.
I studied Ninja MCQ- completed all questions but maybe 100. My average was 72% and was trending 82% before I ran out of time.
Some questions on the exam I had never even SEEN the material before. And the icing on the cake was that 2 out of the 3 WCs I had ZERO clue on how to answer since in my opinion they were more FAR material than anything I studied for BEC. And unfortunately I studied FAR so long ago, I couldn’t remember much on the 2 obscure topics.
So frustrated right now… =-(

@FUBARFAR Yeah, we got the same exam. Personally, I think I managed the questions I was given to the best of my ability, and I think I had as much knowledge about the topics in my head as I possibly could. I would predict a “Pass” for both of us. 🙂 I agree with you to a degree with FAR as well. I feel like they don't want to know if you can answer the question, they want to know that you completely understand the topic. Can you unravel this ratio, and tell me what it means in this context. BEC is much more analytical than any of the other exams, and I think that's what people tend to struggle with.

@DISLCPA got ya– did you use Wiley's before or strictly Ninja? I think I am clearly going to have to cough up money that I don't want to spend on a new test bank for this since like you I probably already know the answers to ninja and rogers…

@ShutUpStupidGetBacktoTeachin- I had the SAME QUESTION reworded six different times- twice in each testlett…

@mckan514w I used strictly NINJA the first go round. about having the same question reworded multiple times, I had the same experience. I thought I was majorly screwing up (which I really did) when I kept getting those. Word to the wise, don't take your test on a Friday when you are heading the Lake Cumberland for the weekend as soon as you finish. I think that played a big part in my failure, I just wanted to be done.

@DISLCPA- I had the same WC as you. That one wasn't too bad and the second one I actually knew pretty well, but the third was all FAR knowledge and I haven't studied for FAR since Feb so that's long gone from memory lol. I'm hoping the FAR one was pretest because I was running out of time and only wrote an intro.

I don't see how much more I could have done to prepare and whatever my score is I can honestly say I gave it my best effort. I just took it in June and put in about 140 hours and around 3000 mcq's. For this attempt I put around 150 hours and 3500 mcq's and wrote my own notes instead of rewriting Ninja. My average and trending scores were much higher and I had all the ratios and variances down, except for the overhead ones.

I passed BEC after 4 attempts. I think it was the hardest exam to gauge and right up there with FAR for difficulty in studying. I had a tricky first testlet (wouldn't have considered it medium), the second testlet was almost all educated guesses, the third testlet was laughably easy. I walked out of the test center 100% certain I failed. I spent the next 2 weeks completely depressed because I did not know how much I could learn after going over this topic with a fine tooth comb three times this year already. Luckily, I ended up with an 80 … thought for sure it would be 70.

I got 2 74s in a row, Q1 and Q2 on BEC …. both times I thought that I did well enough to pass. There is almost no way to gauge this exam, in particular and it is such a shame. This exam really makes me feel like the AICPA grading system is BS. The questions they asked this quarter were other worldly …. Q1 and Q2 were not the same degree of confusing, but I vaguely remember Q3 2015 being weir and random (I took it first then, but did not study all that well and got a 67).

As far as I'm concerned BEC is The Beast! I've put way more effort in BEC than I ever did for FAR, REG, or AUD and I can't pass this dang test! And it's my last one!!!!! I'm going to take BEC for the fifth, yes fifth, dang time in October. I passed everything else the second try, but I can't get passed this! I used Becker the first time (lowest score) and Ninja MCQ for all the other times. I added Roger CRAM for BEC for the third test, didn't move my score one point. This last time I added Ninja Notes that I copied 1.5 times and did at least 700 more MCQ, got an increase of 2 points. This time I'm planning on copying Notes at least three times and getting more aggressive with MCQ, even though I'm not sure now I can get more aggressive with them than I did last time.

This makes me feel better (sort of) that others had the same experience on BEC that I did (I took it on 8/29). I feel like there were a lot of MC that I could narrow down to two choices and then it was just a toss up between the two…terrible feeling. I wanted to quit after what felt like the 10th time that happened. The WC I didn't find too bad, maybe because FAR is still somewhat fresh in my mind, but I also found that I didn't have a lot to say for 2 of the 3.

Fingers crossed are crossed real tight for this one…I could use a win after a rough go at AUD last month.

Best wishes! I took it last month and left the prometric center feeling the same or worse. Some material I never saw, and I was wondering if I missed any material while preparing myself for it.

I failed and already studying to retake it as soon as next window opens to get over with it, and keep on with REG. I really would like to pass it before the 2017 changes.
