    Good day,

I’ve just got out of my REG exam and I would like to share my experiences. Please share yours with me if you recently took it. I aware that I am not supposed to specifically share any questions I saw on the exam, so it’s more like my overall experience.

I failed REG in March 2017 with 51 and began studying again in June. My study time was approximately 5 full weeks. I studied with Becker and Ninja. I went through all the questions, sims, progress test, mock exam on Becker and around 1000 questions on NINJA and all its sims.

Overall, it was challenging but doable. Also, I am not sure how my result will be (but I feel very pessimistic).

MCQ – I think both Becker and Ninja prepared me pretty well for the MCQs. I was not shocked or panicked by any questions but there were a few questions that I was quite confused on each testlet. I have to mark that it was a pleasant surprise how many business law and CPA responsibility related questions I had on my MCQ testlets. Certainly more than I expected. In addition, it’s similar to my first REG experience but there were not too many computation questions or complicated computation. More conceptual. So, I don’t recommend to spend tons of time on complicated computation questions when you practice. Anyway, I didn’t feel like I killed or performed exceptionally on my MCQs but I found everything reasonable.

SIMs – On the first sim testlet, one sim was pretty easy in perspective but the second one was certainly more difficult and I guessed a few. They both gave me information on the tab and asked to fill out tax related numbers. Regarding the second and the third testlets, the research question was very easy and straightforward. But, there were two simulations that I almost completely guessed. I definitely computed based on the given numbers and put down answers but I was definitely not confident. I think my sim testlets had one really difficult question and two easy or medium level questions.

After the exam, I felt like.. I don’t know. I don’t feel confident at all but I don’t think that I screwed up either. I will patiently wait for the result and move onto the next section. Man… Hope I passed this one… It’s going to be terribly painful if I have to study REG again to retake.

Hi! Did you feel the sims in becker were similar in difficulty as on the exam? Also, did you think ninja mcq as a supplement helped?

    Becker for all

    FAR - 97 (Q3 2017)
    REG - 95 (Q3 2017)

Also — I am currently studying for REG so I don't have an experience but a friend who told it recently said they thought the MCQ were reasonable, not many calculation (so similar to your experience) and that the sims were very hard, especially for someone with no tax experience 🙁

    Becker for all

    AUD - 87 (Q2 2017)
    FAR - 97 (Q3 2017)
    REG - 95 (Q3 2017)
    BEC - 98 (Q3 2017)
